If you were that desperate, you'd have googled MSVCR100 and found a wealth of information concerning fixing that.

Here you go: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=MSVCR100

Actually I did smackababy. That's why I came back here. Googled the problem, installed Visual C++ on my PC, but the issue remained. I'm also missing MSVCP100 and when I try and install it, I get a message that it is already on my computer. I even found the files on my computer and they are in the BF4 beta folder.

You don't need to be rude. I came back here because my own searches and attempts and talks with techs were fruitless. Why so snarky?

Scooterlibby - Perhaps your best bet is uninstall and reinstall the beta.

Which version of Windows are you running?

Thank you Termie, I did already try that and I am running Win 7 64 bit home.

EDIT: My fix was to get to reinstall the 2010 X64 version of C++. I had done this a few times but a I guess the third time was the charm. Thanks.

I can't believe how bad everyone is... whether its me decimating the opposing team going 40-10, a clueless squad, or a clueless squad leader. The game is filled with idiots. I keep screaming at the squad leader to give orders so we can get points but they just sit on top of a building diddling themselves with a sniper rifle.

I need to find some decent people to play with before I lose my mind.

In any BF, if my squad contains snipers, I join a different squad. They generally are the most worthless players.

I'm really liking the chain of command. The re-incentived following orders and made giving/following them much more clear. Reminds me of BF2 a bit...sniff.

Yeah, except I can't spot people without accidentally selecting the flag as an attack point. Every time I spot someone, or try to, I inadvertently give a new attack or defend order.

Unless those Recon equip SOFLAMs and I'm an Engineer. Then destruction shall rain from the heavens.

Unfortunately, seems like most Recon lately don't have a clue. I spend half the game yelling at them to paint targets for me, but then I see them just laying on a rock a few hundred yards away from the action.

There seems to also be an issue with the hit boxes/clipping of the terrain and objects like buildings etc. That or the tank's cannon has an issue. Say you are trying to shoot just over the edge of a rise or right alongside the edge of a building and you have the cannon aimed correctly, it will still hit the terrain/object and you'll need to move it over further than it looks like it should need to be.

At first I thought maybe the shell drop was screwed up and it was dropping way too soon, but that would not account for shooting beside the edge of objects. You can quickly account for it, but it's weird having to move that little extra to graze an edge when it looks like you are well past it.

That reminds me - can someone explain the scopes/binoculars that support and recon carry, what they're used for, and how they differ?

I'm pretty sure that stuff is already up there.

It's the 4 large pillars facing the bay, they're very conspicuous.

2 hits from a RPG will take each out.
If no one takes them out, does the building remain standing the entire game?

If so i wish people would leave it ALONE!!!! The whole concept is kinda ridiculous. Why just one particular building??? UGH

Yeah.

Also, the map goes from decent to REALLY REALLY shitty if that building falls.

The fallout of this is that there are fewer people playing Battlefield 3.

If this map was better, I might enjoy this more. As of now, I'd rather play BF3.

This. I assume they are like SOFLAM but I wanted to verify.

And whats with RPG locking on to begin with? Aren't they "dumb" weapons? At least in BF3 the Javelin + SOFLAM made some sense in that Javelins are actually "smart" weapons to begin with.

Was able to play for a little bit but keep getting a DX error now. Using latest drivers and reran the dxsetup. ugh.

SOFLAM didnt make any sense because it's a laser, and the weapon should follow the laser, and if the laser moves, so too should the missile. But it doesn't work that way, it's just a teammate-triggered lock-on. If it worked the way it should, you'd be able to fire missiles into windows for precision teamwork.

Well i got around to doing a fresh complete install of windows 8.1 preview, installed msi ab,fraps origin and the game with 331.40 and well all the stuttering and terrible frame dips have disappeared.

Guess the whole recommendation of windows 8 for this game wasn't for no reason, same versions of all the programs and drivers i ran on windows 7......

My Windows 8 box appeared to be smoother than my Win 7 machine despite having less powerful hardware... Until I updated DirectX on Windows 7

I played a bit. TTK is higher than I'd like, but it is normal. Spotting is also lame. I saw a group and spotted all 4 or so of them with one 'Q' press. Runs pretty good so far. No noticeable slowdowns.
