That worries me too. Alpha is, if I understand correctly, to get it right from technical point of view, and beta is for testing the actual gameplay. There's no way in hell they can fine tune any balance in a matter of what, two, three weeks? I don't want to see another bugged launch with months worth of delay after the worst stuff gets fixed.

Oh don't worry. Playing BF3 beta and BF3 retail was a completely different experience. It's like they took all the good parts of the beta and got rid of them.

And its not like the gameplay is going to be that different from BF3 anyways.

Just noticed this headline for BF3 2XP on Battlelog:

Celebrate gamescom week with 2XP in BF3 - The double XP event starts August 21 at 2AM PST / 11 AM CEST and ends on August 26, 120 hours later.

Such as?

I felt the game at first launch was nearly perfect, they just needed to patch a few bugs and glitches. Only after complaints from idiots who think every weapon and vehicle should handle and do the same amount of damage did they level out everything to the point that it doesnt matter what weapon you choose in a particular class. They drove me insane with constant unnecessary changes for 6 months.

Can't decide if the game will be worth ~$100 up front.

While I will likely get enough time out of it to offset that expense, seeing where BF3 premium ended up makes me think it might be worth it to wait and save half or more.

I preodered the more expensive version (whatever it was) several week ago already. I mean, I will probably spend 200+ hours (possibly even longer) playing it again, and what's 100 bucks for such long time? That's a nobrainer.

Already ordering. I buy all the expansion packs anyway, and the value I get is worth it.

Already got my shitbucket lvl 100 in BF3, time to work it from the start in BF4.

So, they're still using client side hit detection?

I'm assuming they are since there's been no mention of it.

I think they mentioned at E3 that they put a lot more stuff on the server side now. So it is a mix of BF BC2 and BF3. The water is definitely server side so waves are linked to all clients.

Going to start off with the lack of the blue tint.
Thats it?

And Im fairly certain the beta had the blue tint on Metro.

After looking at that pic the blue isnt so bad after all. The alpha is way too bright for a subway tunnel. Perhaps a compromise between those two would have been nicer.

Well, unless you want people dying seconds after you shoot them, they really can't do it server side. Same with the spotting. Sure, it makes it easier for hackers do do their thing, but the alternative is terrible.

Wow. I forgot how good the Alpha looked. I agree that it is too bright for a tunnel and they should have gone with some type of compromise. But we've been told from day one that frostbite is magically delicious. And the best they could do to make things look dark was to add a filter that looks like I put dirty window tint on my monitor?
Honestly, I haven't noticed the blue tint or lack thereof on the BF4 videos out there. Maybe I should pay attention when viewing them...

WTF, BF3 looked THAT good in alpha?
I would seriously love to hear the reasoning behind that blue shit.

As far as I know CoD has always been on the server side (not counting the weird hosting like MW2 had) and for the most part it works pretty well, I see far more "anomalies" playing BF games. On server side games the guy with the lowest ping has a slight advantage, but in BF its the opposite.

If someone is really lagging it doesnt matter which side the detection is on, weird stuff is gonna happen.

I've always thought since mw2 the lag in cod was unbearable. Killcam never remotely showed what I experienced
