that vid is from a PC BTW

That's some seriously slow mouse movement then. I guess if they wanted to stress the visuals that's the way do do it, but I found it frustrating watching that person play.

Just like how some people are better with chop sticks than with a fork!

Sure, I guess...

Just a quick stat comparison of mine of BF2 on PC vs BF3 on 360:

BF2: 257 hours, 8071 kills/8442 deaths, .96 KDR
BF3: 185 hours, 8551 kills/6612 deaths, 1.29 KDR

I know it's a pretty basic comparison, but I wasn't very good at BF2, and am IMO pretty good at BF3 mainly because I'm better with the joysticks than M+KB.

Also maybe the aim assist you get on console could help contribute to that too. Plus BF3 is easier in genral to get a lot of kills vs BF2

BF2 is a much slower, much more team based game. Harder to get a good KDA in it.

Yea, but I'm comparing my own stats.

I sucked at BF2, at FarCry...ok my PC FPS experience is limited but I wasn't ever really any good at it.

Don't get me wrong I'd rather play on PC because I know it's a better platform for performance and visuals but it's easier for me to play on a console and that's where my friends are so that's where I go.

engadget - Talking Frostbite, Battlefield 4 and Mirror's Edge 2 with EA DICE's big boss (video)

EA's DICE studio is the motor that powers several of gaming's most popular franchises. Need for Speed and Battlefield are just two of the enormous series that DICE's Frostbite engine is behind, and EA's pledged the engine's support to many more of its titles. It's with these things in mind that we met up with DICE General Manager Karl Magnus-Troedsson at E3 2013, where we discussed Frostbite 3, Frostbite Go, Battlefield 4 and even a little Mirror's Edge 2 for good measure.

Troedsson had a headline spot during EA's E3 stage briefing, where he helped to narrate a live demo of a 64-player match. Beyond a showcase for Battlefield 4, the presentation was perhaps the most stunning demonstration to date of the DICE studio's Frostbite engine and the power it's able to wield when harnessed by skilled developers. And for the first time ever on next-gen consoles, Battlefield's console versions (at least the next-gen ones) are identical with that of the PC one. Massive online battles and incredible in-game events -- such as a Shanghai skyscraper being brought toppling down, all while naval scraps and helicopter dogfights are taking place -- are possible on both PC and the next-gen boxes from Microsoft and Sony. We discuss all that and more with Troedsson in the video we've dropped just below the break.

This one's for TheNiceGuy...

Here's an older article: nowGamer.com - Battlefield 4: DICE Talks Release Date, Beta, BF3, New Features

DICE has hit the net to reveal preliminary details for recently-announced FPS Battlefield 4.

Published on Jul 18, 2012

Battlefield 4 will launch after the game's beta takes place in Autumn next year and beta entry will be possible without pre-ordering Medal of Honor: Warfighter, DICE has confirmed.

"There will be other ways to get into the beta aside from MoH Warfighter. At this time, however, it is the only way to guarantee entry," DICE Community Manager Ian Tornay confirmed on a reddit thread.

Addressing concerns about the relatively quick turnaround for a numbered Battlefield sequel, Tornay added: "I think it's worth noting that DICE has released a Battlefield game every two years or sooner AND Mirror's Edge at least every two years. I truly believe that we're in one of the best positions to be creating our next title - Frostbite 2 has matured, we've been gathering fan feedback like crazy, Battlefield 3 continues to expand with features which we can learn from, and we've got more data about how people play than ever."

The thread also recognised that BF fans are hankering for "a better VOIP solution, Battle Recorder, Spectator Mode and more robust eSports support" in the next Battlefield game.

Other Battlefield details clarified include:

- The beta will be in Fall of 2013. We don't have a BF4 release date yet but, of course, it will be after the beta.

- We will continue to support BF3. DICE and EA are dedicated to continuing our support for Battlefield 3. Just as we've continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4.

- There are several teams at DICE. Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can.

- Your feedback absolutely matters. We will continue to use it to improve BF3 and to make Battlefield 4 even better from day one.

Battlefield 4 was confirmed yesterday, causing DICE to post the below on battlefield.com:

The team at DICE is hard at work on the next entry in the Battlefield series, and to ensure access to the exclusive Battlefield 4 beta, shooter fans can pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter today. While there is no further Battlefield 4 news at this point – remember, if you don’t see it published here, it’s just rumor and speculation – we did want to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts on the state of the Battlefield franchise.

We are extremely proud of Battlefield 3, and with millions of fans out there, we’re happy you’re enjoying it too. When we launched the game, we introduced unparalleled levels of in-game destruction, all-out vehicle warfare and redefined online gameplay. Even with billions of bullets fired and millions of games played, we know the Battlefield 3 story is still just the beginning. As ever, we are humbled by the community’s response to the game, and couldn’t be happier with the feedback we have received to Battlefield 3 Premium. With the Back to Karkand and Close Quarters expansion packs already out, Armored Kill around the corner, and End Game and Aftermath still on the horizon, we’re looking forward to many more hours of gameplay with you, and can’t wait to see the stories you will tell through Battlelog and player created videos.

But we’re not ready to talk about Battlefield 4 yet - in the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy Battlefield 3 and all the Battlefield 3 Premium content still to come. We invite you to check out Danger Close Studio’s Medal of Honor Warfighter, which is also powered by the Frostbite 2 engine and the free social network, Battlelog. Don’t forget that pre-ordering Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition (at no extra cost) guarantees access to the exclusive Battlefield 4 Beta.

Battlelog - BF4 PC VOIP YES NO

I have heard from several sources that BF4 has built in support for VOIP from the commander to squad leaders, is it too much to hope for intra-squad voip? welcome back to 2005, DICE! We have missed you.

Hahaha. No. Restoring features that should have been there since day 1 isn't them doesn't mean they're 2005 Dice.

If Commander to Squad Leader VOIP and intra-squad VOIP are confirmed, this game will be a winner for me. I'm already pumped that they brought back the Commander.

The one good thing consoles have going is that the 360 pad is EXTREMELY comfortable, and while many will say mouse/kb is superior (and i'd agree to a SLIGHT extent) - the difference isn't as large as it has been in the past. The 360 pad allows for quick turns just like the mouse does, it isn't like the old days where console players had a huge handicap. The 360 pad is a lot better than that, you can still move and turn fast. Additionally, there's one fact that many players gloss over - the playerbase for the console versions of these games is SO MUCH BIGGER than the PC. I mean I just logged on BF3 for the 360 a while ago and there are so many more players than the PC version, it's silly. Probably 100 times more players, maybe more. Like, there isn't even a comparison here. And consoles don't really have the issue with hackers that the PC does, that is DEFINITELY an issue with BF3 on PC. I run into aimbots now and then, and I can still eke out some fun but the point remains - hackers are prevalent on PC MP games.

That's not to say I dislike PC MP games. I play BF3 on PC a lot. But, I can see why some prefer console versions, even if the graphics are worse - there are valid reasons why the console can be a more fun experience. If for nothing else, just because the player base is MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger.

Hell, I'll just go ahead and say it. If the PS4 version of BF4 is good, i'd much rather player it there. I guarantee the player base will be much bigger without the concerns of hacking that is present on PC. If the graphics are slightly worse i'm okay with that in MP games. I like pretty graphics in SP games, in MP games i'm all about the competition.

I only mntioned the Second Assault DLC once, on the first day of E3 and it was most remarkable for being a timed exclusive for the XBox 1. Today I look up the description on th Official site and it says: This Premium expansion pack will feature four of the most fan-favorite maps from Battlefield 3, redesigned to take advantage of our advanced Frostbite 3 engine and enhanced to include new multiplayer features from Battlefield 4.

WHich maps do you wish to see return from BF3?

Metro?
Wake?

You know what REALLY irks me about BF4?

Even if they bring back certain features that SHOULD have been kept in or never inserted, the "features" they bring are things that could have easily been added into BF3. Certain things like suppression fixes and crap is just a 0 or 1, VOIP is something Dice knows how to do, and they're touting a 6 man squad like its some integral part of the BF4 experience when all it is is a single variable that could be added to BF3 in 4 seconds flat.

Ridiculous bait with BF3, sell BF3 as a "true" sequel to BF2 even though it was no such thing, anger longtime veterans, and them try to woo them back with the "improved" BF4 claiming that they learned from the community even though EA has time and time again ignored what the community wants, and then don't backport any of the changes that are simple 5 minute coding changes into BF3 in order to sell BF4 copies. Scummy tactics. And now BF4 is the TRUE BF2 sequel that all the veterans were waiting for, believe us this time!

And also the new and "improved" classic BF2 maps that they remove 33% of claiming that no one was using those areas, and then recreating it in frostbite and not realizing that being able to destroy half the walls completely destroys the flow of the map.

IMO, Metro is the worst battlefield map ever devised, no thank you!

I really have no desire to see any of the BF3 maps rehashed so soon. I can play any of those anytime I like, give me something new.

I have a feeling Im going to prefer BF3 over BF4 anyhow. Im not seeing anything from the footage released so far that is too impressive over what we have in BF3. Besides, Id rather not deal with a commander or listen to a bunch of babbling fools in voice. I hope there's a mute button.

Or....ya know, you could have just skipped out on BF3 since it obviously wasn't your cup of tea. Since you've made that pretty obvious, ya know, since before BF3's release. Think we get it now. Bitching about features in BF4 because you feel they should've been in 3 is just silly.

Metro is probably the worst map I've ever played on. That being said, they've come out with quite a few well-designed TDM maps...I <3 Noshahr Canals. Shanghai looks pretty damn awesome though, and would rather have BF2 map remakes.

I'm the exact opposite though, I prefer NOT to play BF as a SP experience, and I've had many good experiences on VOIP with BF2. Also it seems most of the commander toys are cap-point tie-ins, so it shouldn't be a make/break thing for anyone really coming from BF3...

Same, I could go for some BF2 or older maps but would rather not see the same ones Ive been playing for the past 2 years.

Dont get me wrong, I like playing with a good group and used BF3's VOIP quite a bit for a while right after it's release. Now its a very rare thing for me to ever get together with more than one or two friends at a time. The time that I do get to play during the work day I cant use a headset or mic, so voice is pretty much useless to me then. (If you play much with me during the day you are likely to see me go awol or leave a game suddenly because of a call or some other "crisis".)

So due to everyone's different work schedules and just life in general, I mostly play with pubs and its enough to just read some of the idiotic comments typed in chat without actually having to hear it blasted through my speakers. LOL
