DOH..........

I've been playing BF4/multi-player for several days now. Today, I thought I'd try the the SP missions... 1st time...

At a point where helicopter is asking me as squad leader to show him where target is to 'engage'.... I see no such key on list of 'binds'.... ??? HUH?

What key is it?

Press Q or any key that you bounded for spotting, but there is a bar above your ammo indicator that will tell you when the order can be given again.

Ok, the 'Q' key is the one. However, even when it says to 'engage', I can't seem to get it to do it... do you hold the Q key down, or what?

Never used that Q/spot function before....

Man, player on the stream are pretty bad, seem like they can't aim for some reason. Also, I can't wait to get my hand on the M60E4 and the F2000 (don't know about the GOL Magnum though)

Huh, yeah just saw a guy trying to snipe people from the roof and was missing horribly.

Made me wonder though how are they viewing these player perspectives is it spectator mode or what?

From the player's own perspective they might be seeing their crosshair directly on their target and wondering wtf why arent they hitting (like how I feel a lot) when in reality from the server perspective it thinks the player is aiming off?

I think this is one of the reasons there is a lot of cheap stuff in the last couple of BF games...the devs can't play. The only guys on the stream who could play were QA. I've watched zh1nto's charity streams, and he is terrible. It probably explains why there is suppression, irnv, noob tubes, USAS-12 with frag rounds, auto healing vehicles, etc. Even the gaming press is bad at these games. I guess thats reasonable if most people are bad at the game.

You have the link to the zh1nt0 stream?

I really hope they fix some of the hit reg issues soon. Since recently it's been almost impossible for me to kill anyone. I am getting to the point where I will see only one or no hit markers through an entire clip at close range( when it's not bugged to make it so you have no hit markers.). It makes it no fun when you can't kill someone, I even have tow missiles clearly hit an enemy tank or something to have them disappear as soon as it should hit.

The game it's self was for the most part working well till recently.

If you've been playing MP for a couple days you should be intimately familiar with Q. It's the single biggest thing you can do to help your team, even more so when there is no commander... assuming you are playing on servers where it's enabled of course.

Running into a defended area where 7 of my teammates are firing into, but seeing nothing on the mini-map makes me want to kick a kitten.

Oddly enough, the poor hit marker registry has caused me to gravitate towards hardcore. It takes less to kill people, simply put. When I play normal now, it feels way, WAY too excessive trying to kill someone with the amount of ammo I have to put into them. It also makes pistols feel extremely weak.

I have been playing a hardcore pistol/knife only server a lot lately though! :)

Which is exactly why they need a BF Classic preset. Hardcore sucks because no minimap means half the recon's gadgets are useless. I also don't like hud off because you should be able to know how much ammo you have and there typically aren't enough queues to get a sense for your vehicle's health. If you could just turn off player health and crosshair it would be good.

Honestly at this point though, their damage mechanics are a little too out of whack to even fix via server settings. 60% player health feels pretty close to old BF2 TTK (probably more like 70-75%), EXCEPT one hit sniper rifles are a problem. Vehicles also typically don't do enough damage to each other. Only when I use HE shells on tanks does it feel about right to me. I'd like to see vehicles universally take more damage and give infantry substantially less AV/AA ammo.

Yup, half a mag of well-aimed shots is ridiculous.

Everything you mentioned sounds great and I totally agree with, especially engineers carrying less AV/AA ammo because it does substantially higher damage.

I'm having the same experience in BF4 as well.
I wasn't super awesome in bf3, but I could hold my own. In bf4 I die like every two seconds.

At first I suffered pretty bad, but now that I got my main class leveled up, my KD is quickly climbing back to where it was. Its a re learning process for me. I mean it makes sense. If you get over 60k kills with a single weapon, your brain is attached to it, so even the slightest change in weapon mechanics threw me off big time and I am readjusting. Stick with it and things will smooth out for you.

lol I have the 2nd best accuracy in Texas! I guess these folks can't shoot straight ;)

What the hell, I'd also be top 10 KDR in Texas, but it says I need to die 100 times first. Well poop. I'll probably die like a billion times next time I play anyway.
It's kind of crazy how accurate the leader board map is.

50% of your kills are in a tank, but your k/min is pretty low. Are you just very cautious?

One thing I hate about the tank is how the canister shell (and I assume staff) share loading time with the primary weapon. I know they use the main cannon and it's more realistic but it sucks since you give up your secondary gun for it.

Agreed with most of what he said, except the less engineer AV/AA ammo. It takes a ridiculous amount of rockets to kill armor. A solid hit with a RPG on a tank knocks off about 24 health points, it may do more from the rear but I cant remember exactly what that was. A team of engineers can make life hell for a tank but that is the way it should be.

One RPG will take down a helo, but you have to catch one hovering or get a really lucky shot to hit one with it. Stingers are useless and it takes at least 2-3 hits with the IGLA to take out a chopper. Add in the fact that the vehicles health regen is so fast, its tough to knock out a good pilot before he flies outta sight to recharge.

That's why I said I wanted vehicles to TAKE more damage from all sources as well.

Sorry, I misunderstood, you are saying less but more powerful rockets.

I first thought you meant that vehicles should be able to take (withstand) more damage, while giving engineers less ammo.

Now says "Update in progress- check back later"

Since we were given no heads up on an update, Im guessing they were attacked.
