there are lots of studies/experiements that were anti spurlock.

some involving students that stuffed themselves in a similar way at a university in europe got really different results from spurlock....none were affected in a negative way as spurlock, who is apparently very genetically weak. but i guess that figures.

Is it this one? It says they were affected negatively, but not to the extent that Spurlock was.

I read that a guy in Korea tried to do the same thing, but after 24 days, his liver was pate, and was forced to stop.

Caloric restriction diets are THE best way to extend life expectancy, as countless studies in vertebrates and mammals have shown. Insulin pathways being shut off really tidies up the biochemistry of most tissues.

So, aside from his starvation diet probably leading to some breakdown of his muscle tissue, I'd say if he can keep the weight off for 6 months he's golden... (if the fat-storing adipose cells are empty for 6 months, they self-destruct - hence why it is so easy to gain weight back immediately after losing body fat, but becomes much harder after 6 months or so).

Hah, seriously. I've eaten 1400 calories per day before for extended periods of time, and I did it while riding an exercise bike for an hour each day. It just takes discipline.

Yep, takes discipline. Restricted calories + increased exercise burns fat in a hurry.

I hate how people applaud or are amazed at the concept of losing weight and how when fatties do it, it's such a big deal. Because they had no self control or sense of being healthy before, we should applaud them because they finally get the concept?

Especially when they do it through borderline anorexia and intentional consumption of unhealthy foods. Make yourself a salad and spend some time on a stairmaster you fat bastards.

uh, did the dude not eat salads quite often? Maybe I misread it...

spurlock is just a hysterical fear monger.
