Nvidia CEO Says Everyone Should Stop Being So Negative About AI:

“I think we’ve done a lot of damage with very well-respected people who have painted a doomer narrative, end of the world narrative, science fiction narrative,” Huang said. “And I appreciate that many of us grew up and enjoyed science fiction, but it’s not helpful. It’s not helpful to people. It’s not helpful to the industry. It’s not helpful to society. It’s not helpful to the governments.”

AI doomers are one thing, but there are very real, documented negative effects of AI:

* Job losses
* Wholesale theft
* Electricity prices
* Pollution & water usage
* RAM & GPU skyrocketing prices

You forgot damaging psychologically vulnerable people, up to and including death.

I don't think it's particularly controversial saying the world is worse with ai in it. It's meager benefits are far outweighed by the detriments.

I often feel that smartphones have been a net loss for humanity as well, especially kids

Yea, I could buy that. Too addictive, with companies acting to get people addicted. The companies are basically predators hunting people without the knowledge or discipline to resist.

I like how AI CEOs are getting annoyed at fact that people are annoyed by AI now. I think the novelty is wearing off for many especially because of how hard they are pushing it everywhere and what they've done to the market. It's just too much too fast.

My guess is that AI CEOs were always of the opinion that hell is other people, and this development in public opinion reinforces their view. All the more reason to destroy tonnes of jobs!

Oh no, it's a well-documented term in the ADHD world haha

Throw in some anxiety & you get doom-scrolling! 😛
<side-eye at my wife> Watching my wife scroll and scroll and scroll, and hearing the kind of stuff she often watches makes me think of the 'TV dramas' in 'Fahrenheit 451' 🙁

It's happening sooner than we thought!

Security researchers have already found hundreds of exposed Moltbot instances leaking API keys, credentials, and conversation histories. Palo Alto Networks warned that Moltbot represents what Willison often calls a “lethal trifecta” of access to private data, exposure to untrusted content, and the ability to communicate externally.

SpaceX has acquired xAI, merging Elon Musk's aerospace company with his AI startup. This deal, announced on February 2, 2026, creates a combined entity valued at around $1.25 trillion:

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, a source familiar said it valued xAI at $125bn (£91bn) and SpaceX at $1tn, making it the most valuable private company ever.

Good for them, reading the room.
Now, just give me another one that kills any and all Firefox notifications I didn't ask for, and disable the new tab that appears after an update 😛

I wasn't online for netscape. When I started using it, firefox was called firebird for about a week before changing to firefox. I've never used anything else since.
