Meh the problem is not the price or the medium...its the content. Sounds crazy, but there are some drawn stories that I would pay $8 for, I love a good story. I think the Asians/Japanese/Koreans have figured out that particular market. Last time I checked out an American picture story it was like 20 pages of "WHAM!' "BLAM!" "SLAMMO!" "KAPLOW!" and "I'll get you next time!". Not worth $8, even if it were 50 pages.

I'm sure there's a few good American comics/drawn stories or whatnot...but they seem to be few enough that I haven't run into one yet. You know what they say though, a picture is worth a thousand words...it's true. It's much more interesting to see the ground than to read a page or two describing the size/shape and type of grass growing on it, so there is an advantage in drawing for those who actually like to enter the world they're reading about...it just has to be interesting enough to want to visit.

Then you are part of the problem. Comic books cost less than a dollar just a decade or so ago. Even the super special edition ones were like $2.-2.50 at the VERY most.

I wouldn't even pay a dollar for the American comics I've seen...though last christmas I think it was (or the year before that), I picked up a big case of mixed old/random comics (about 300) for $10 to give to my sisters kid. Told her to go through it, I really don't care what happens to them.

If I'm getting a books worth of great content and I enjoy the art used, I don't think $8 is entirely unreasonable.

Edit: Oh and like I said earlier, because of the drawings you don't need as many words...so typically a drawn story will be "smaller/shorter".

Yeah, why does anyone get worked up over this stuff? They can just make up an equally crazy thing that nullifies it.

My friend was telling me about this and apparently its some mind-switching thing and Doc Oc keeps all his own memories or some shit so they'll just say that Parker was in him the whole time and they'll clone Parker and find a way to transfer his mind over.

anyhoo, as far as comic prices go - they are overpriced. i'd buy them if the ones i want didn't cost a significant percentage of my avg monthly wage. even the digital ones are overpriced. make them 99c/p and i'd be all over it

to be fair, grayson taking on the cowl worked quite well from what i read and lead to batman inc on bruces return. although that's going to be down to the writer involved (morrison?)
