ah... but it might serve to make the 8800GT for us in the know how...

Also, I wonder how the 55nm version will perform... eventually it will be the only one available.

Im not sure how hybrid power is "turned on" since i have never read about a secondary chip that you've mentioned (didnt know this). It could be software based or hardware based. nVIDIA did show us that a 65nm G92 can use hybrid power ala 9800GTX but did not "enable" this on other 8 series based G92 chips.

they cites extra cost of either chip or circuitry, i don't remember exactly which. Said there is no point of spending that extra money on a low end card.

nvidia couldn't have made the branding on this current generation of cards any more confusing if they tried. I'd go for ATI just out of protest.

but confusing names means that someone in the know can get a much better deal due to perceived value and market prices not matching real value.
