^ unlocked doesn't mean they can authenticate with a CDMA network immediately. Sprint/Verizon would need to manually add your device's ESN to the account before it can be used because CDMA doesn't use SIM cards. On a GSM network all you do is slap a SIM card in an unlocked device and you're good to go. So unless your GSM network uses a whitelist device list only, they pretty much have to accept any device.

Now Sprint and Verizon are just total assholes in the industry with this whitelist policy. As a result they forbid each other's devices when they used to work great (and still do without LTE at least) on the other's network.

So while it's true that Verizon's iDevice works on all networks (GSM), its questionable whether Sprint will actually add your iDevice. Maybe if you lied and said you bought a new Sprint iDevice and gave them the ESN would they know its a VZW device? But either way I would assume the worst that they don't work. Now the Verizon iDevice will work on AT&T no questions asked. Just slap your SIM in and you're good to go.

So that sim card that's in my VZW iPhone and iPad aren't really sim cards?

It is pretty amazing how Apple managed to make the phone (6+) so thin and light. It should definitely help reducing strains on wrist in heavy use.

good to know, I only asked because someone asked me what now seems like a very stupid question about me buying a iphone 6 on my VZW accnt so they could use it on sprint (at least I think it was sprint) it might have been T-Mo

Has anyone who ordered a Spigen case from Amazon during the sale received theirs yet? I ordered one last week and it still hasn't shipped..

I did order one during the sale. And at the time the estimated ship time was early October.

It's right in between the Note 3 and 4, few grams difference between them all...

The G3 is a much better example of a large screen phone done light.

Light maybe, but thin? The fact that it's bigger than the Note 3 but has a smaller screen does not impress me one bit. If they made it smaller and kept it thin I would be impressed.

Thinking about the new iphone...as a long time Android user. Are you able to play video files of any file type nowadays? Or is that still a problem? Will I need to handbrake all my video files?

edit: actually, i'm surprised there isnt a thread on this forum listing the pros and cons of android vs the new iphone. I guess that would just devolve into a pissing contest real quickly. But it would be damn helpful to me at this point.

people in office are loco over all the iPhones. They feel nice to hold unlike the 5S. This dejavu from when I first held the HTC One. I though to myself, curved edges sure make a lot of sense.

Other than that, meh! I think iOS is better suited for small phones..

Yea the phone looks like the HTC one a bit from the outside. It's thinner for sure. One guy in the office got it and it looks bigger than my HTC one m7. That's because the m7 has the front speakers and bezel at the bottom for the hardware buttons.

Never had an issue with my iPhone but I never tried storing .mkv files or anything.

Apple handles internet videos better than Android. Pretty much any video online will open the stock Apple video app and play, whether it's flash, youtube, or what not. That's something I had issues with Android for a long time.

How is the battery life on these so far? Yahoo was reporting that the battery life is far below the Z3 and S5 even with the Plus. Apparently the Plus is on par with the Note 3. I was hoping that the battery life would be top notch.

It's about the same as my 5s so far today.

I see what you would think that would be funny as the note has pretty good battery life. But I am thinking the Note 4 will probably be better than the 3. Therefore I would expect the Plus to be on par with the 4.

Having used my fiancée's 6 a lot over the weekend.. the one thing I probably miss the most is the lack of a back button, as silly as that sounds. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until April unless I can take someone else's in the family so I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

What kind of battery life are you seeing? My Note 2 gets me through an entire day plus some. I had assumed the Note 3 was probably better.

That was a huge thing for me when I went from Android to iOS but you get used to it and TouchID makes up for it.

Ironically, one of the things I really dislike about Android is the back button. Not that such a button in itself is bad, but what I hate about it is the fact that the behaviour is not consistent. Every app implements it differently. Irritating.

As for videos, .mkv plays fine with apps like nPlayer. Even works on my iPad 2, although occasionally high bitrate files seem to stress it out. Works beautifully on the iPhone 5s though. However, it's a $5 app.

vlc is free, but isn't happy on older iDevices.
