new web campaign by microsoft.

Hilarious and I'm only on the first page:

Apple can come back with an ad where they get that same exact laptop from best buy, get it's vista experience rating number, then install vista on a macbook pro 17" and get it's Vista experience rating. Im willing to bet it would be much higher than that laptop from best buy, maybe even if they installed it in a virtual machine without even running bootcamp it might get a better score. Then show how long the battery lasts on the two.

Point: sure you can get a cheaper laptop running windows, but the mac that you didnt buy because it was 'too expensive' is loads better than that PC you just bought. Sony marks their prices up, so I'm sure if you got a 17" from them, it'd be the same amount as a macbook pro and im still not convinced it'd get the same vista rating as the mac would.

Apple isnt going to make crap. My two year old MBP 2.2 ghz is just as fast as it was when i got it, not running slow because of malware or having to run a virus scanner every time it boots (which it does in about 30 seconds). On the other hand, even just my XP virtual machine is dogging after a year of having it installed..on a virtual machine that all i have on it is office 2003 and some software for my job! I used PCs up until 4 years ago, and every one I've had was full of crap after I bought it! dell or HP or Gateway, they all would fill it up with trial programs of this and that. You try to uninstall them but it is to no avail. Then you have to put virus protection on it, which decides to run at the most inconvenient times, slowing down the entire computer. My family gave away all of our PCs after moving completely to macs. They werent even worth selling, and a couple were a year or two old.

Let's see...

ThinkPad has:

- Better pointing device (the nub just works better, always has).
- Infinitely better keyboard (longer travel, larger layout, easily the best in the business).
- Legendary durability.

MacBooks are fine if you're a college student, but there's a reason why essentially every business consultant uses a ThinkPad. It's because we know that the ThinkPad will be durable and dependable through constant use as a main computer and through being thrown around in airport security lines twice a week. Sorry, but the ThinkPad is a clearly superior machine from a durability and practicality standpoint.

I disagree that the nub is the superior pointing device. I own a MBP and have used both the trackpad and the Thinkpad nub, and I honestly like MBP trackpad significantly more. As for the keyboard... I'm not very picky when it comes to them, but I like a short travel myself. To each his own though. As for durability... if the MBP (at least the previous-gen, which I own) isn't known for durability, it should be. This thing is a fucking tank. It's been dropped, thrown around in a backpack, hit, scratched, taken apart and upgraded, and the thing still runs just as good as the day I got it.

Since this topic has already veered off topic I'll just chime in. The one thing I really like about apple laptops are their build quality. There is no manufacturer barring lenovo that makes anything even remotely close. That being said, I don't like the OS. I know how to use a computer so Vista and 7 works just fine for me. When I buy a new notebook I'll have a tough decision on my hands. I have contemplated buying a mini for HTPC purposes, still thinking on that one.

the same build quality that had the manufacturers sticking on GOBS of thermal paste, acting as a thermal insulator causing the macbooks to overheat?

I just bought this, a cheap Toshiba laptop for $699. Here's the specs:

[*]C2D T6400
[*]4GB PC6400
[*]320GB HDD
[*]Built-in webcam/mic
[*]Multi DVD blah blah
[*]Built-in 5-1 card reader
[*]USB2, Firewire AND E-SATA ports

Other stuffs, and more.

Now, find me a Macbook that can match that.

This

Yep, I've never seen anything as robust and usable as thinkpads, for any price.

Who cares? I thought it would be obvious she's an actress.

Btw, most companies use thinkpads. Sure they are ugly but they're damn tough. Built to last.

I laughed about that because too many people think apple can do no wrong which is far from the truth. still their build quality as far as notebooks is concerned is unrivaled. even though I think its dumb that you cant change your own battery, the mere fact that the battery will still hold a couple hours of charge after two years is great imo.

You guys can rip on Apple all you want. If they weren't innovative I doubt technology would be pushed as fast as it has today. Microsoft reacts too much and doesn't initiate as much as they should.

1-button mice are innovative?

Damn, I'd like to continue this conversation but my to-do list clearly says "innovate". So I'm off to host some of these new things called "zip files" on the "internet" so that they're "downloadable". I'll call them... I'll call them... ZIPCASTS!! Oh boy this will change the world! My god, where do I come up with this stuff?
