What a touching tribute. I assume you feel the same gratitude toward President Obama and Vice President Biden (and Clinton and Gore)?

Yes, I do, I actually think Clinton did a good job as President - other than committing perjury. President and VP are VERY hard jobs. Seriously, are you trying to say otherwise? The job does not change just because someone I dislike is in office.

But hey, if it helps you sleep at night, thinking you "got" me on this, have at it. :)

I'd rather have his job than have 90% of the jobs out there. include all the insane benefits, pay and connections he gets.. please dude you got nothing here, many people would die for that job.

You could not handle the job. Seriuosly, you could not.

I heard his new heart came from a staunch liberal. Will that cause him to become a bleeding heart?

No, but I would not be surprise if he has organ rejection because if it. Seriously his life has change immeasurably because of this. While he will potential live longer, it will not be a fun life. He will be on anti-rejection drugs, that will make him more susceptible to every damn disease and bug out there. Simple things like holding or hugging his children and grandchildren could be problematically depending upon how much and which drugs given.

Guess karma is a bitch.

In all seriousness, all of us should become organ donors. Because any random event could cause brain death and consign any of us to become nothing but a vegetable.

But would not it be an additional incentive to become an organ donor if we were allowed to makes a short list of individuals we would not like see our organs go to.

71 year old Cheney gets a heart.

Steve Jobs forum shops to get a liver.

I'm becoming disillusioned with the supposed impartial application of strict medical standards for organ transplants-an extremely bad sign for registered potential organ donors like myself. You turn off potential donors, you dry up the supply.

You said he is getting a new heart. It is assumed any new heart would not be bleeding when after installation. We all know only bleeding hearts vote for Obama...

And only those that are black and dead would vote Santorum, and only those that are artificial would vote Romney. I guess to vote Ron Paul you have to have a heart of gold?

I don't think so because the details that have leaked out so far indicate that the donor died in some sort of freak hunting accident.

Have been one since 16. If I die what would I use it for, I'm dead. Maybe family can get a smaller casket after they harvest and save some money too.

I'm just glad that the greatest modern vice-president and Secretary of Defense that the United States ever had gets to have more time to spend with his family.

Also, it could be argued that the President and Vice President are owed a lot by the nation, due to what all they give while in charge. They are not easy jobs.

Cheney owes at least 33184 people and the ones who loved them a hell of a lot more than the nation owes him. http://antiwar.com/casualties/

Shoot a child of yours and tell the others that it could be worse. After all the kid might have had to be a VP.

You might be right about the greatness. There was the Great Khan, Peter the Great, the Great Plague, the Greatest Show on Earth, lots of "Great Leaders", and there are always great white sharks, too.

Unlikely as it seems, he may be able to use the time ahead for constructive purpose, for some introspection & re-evaluation of his own life. Even George Wallace found that possible.

If not, I'll just have to wait in line to piss on his grave when the day comes. It'll be a long, long line, hopefully during asparagus season.

Genetic match and he's greased enough palms to be first in line when it comes.

I'm not willing to cast aspersions on the system whereby donated organs are allocated, nor should anybody else w/o actual evidence.

My brother, now deceased, was a lung transplant recipient, so I know a little. There are a lot of medical issues surrounding transplants, mostly about tissue matching and rejection. Some people fall into a potentially broad pool of donors, others do not, simply because of their genetic heritage. It's like blood types, only worse.

Serendipity is a huge factor in it all, as well.
