The Dick Cheney we all know and love just received a new heart in a transplant. The rumor that he immediately endorsed President Obama has not been confirmed.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney received a heart transplant on Saturday, his office announced.

A statement from the former vice president's office said the 71-year-old is now recovering in the intensive care unit of Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., outside Washington.

The statement said Cheney had been on the transplant list for 20 months and did not know the identity of the donor.

"Although the former vice president and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift," the statement read.

No word whether it's being paid for by his insurance company or if Obamacare provided the coverage. Let's all come together and have a moment of silence for his speedy recovery. Those so inclined should pray for his good health.

Maybe this will improve his disposition?

You said he is getting a new heart. It is assumed any new heart would not be bleeding when after installation. We all know only bleeding hearts vote for Obama...

You have to admit, anyone who can shoot someone in the face and the shot person APOLOGIZES for getting in the way of the shot...that guy is pretty hard core.

I'm not sure the means through which Obamacare would be involved in paying for his medical costs.

he served in the House in the 70's, so presumably he gets the lifetime free medical coverage that all Congressional crooks get.

Everyone should rejoice at advances in medical technology, it may save Chaney's life for long enough for the international court in the Hague to finally act and label Dick Cheney the international war criminal that he is.

I feel more conflicted than when death row inmates get a heart transplant. Weird.

I never thought I'd say that a death row inmate is more deserving of one than someone who isn't incarcerated.

Oh Lemon, you are such a card. My sarcasm detector pegged from your post. :)

As for me, Imho, have to wonder if cybrsage confuses his own stupidity meter with a correctly calibrated sarcasm meter.

Oh man, you are right! I mislabled the stupidity meter as a sarcasm meter. Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct, you set off my stupidity meter with your post.

Thanks for your help in clearing that up. Had you not pointed out that it was my stupidity meter pegging out due to your post, I would have continued to think it was my sarcasm meter! Your help is appreciated. :)

Is it not unethical to give a heart transplant to an elderly patient when there are many young people who are also in need of a heart?

It comes down to the value of the person to society or what society may owe the person, if you are pulling in ethics. Would an elderly doctor, who still practices medicine and saves lives every day, be a better choice for a new heart than a young gang banger drug dealer who had his shot up in a gun fight over who controls a street corner?

It could be argued that the President and Vice President are owed a lot by the nation, due to what all they give while in charge. They are not easy jobs.

 71 years old and less than 2 years wait. Yup, money had no influence there.

Yep... we have otherwise healthy, viable peds here that have been on the transplant list for several years and can't get a heart (many of them die waiting for one) and a guy in his 70's with multiple heart attacks gets one after 20 months...

Obviously, the part you posted about multiple heart attacks is meant to invoke some kind of negative and hateful emotion in the readers, but you fail miserably. Heart attacks are a good indicator that something could be wrong with your heart, and therefor you need a new one.

Also, it could be argued that the President and Vice President are owed a lot by the nation, due to what all they give while in charge. They are not easy jobs.

wouldn't a pediatric heart patient require a pediatric heart?
