He was in the news as the world's fattest at one point, but I don't recall his name.

He was on a show called "The Half Ton Man" on Discovery Health or something. He was kind of a jerk too.

After the way people point fingers and judge him and terrorize him and poke fun, you'd probably become an asshole too.

All those people making fun of him were probably the reason he finally lost the weight. (Note: Im just assuming he lost the weight since the title of the picture is fat-skinny, and im too scared to click the link)

He didn't lose the weight. At the point he's at in the picture, you cannot lose the weight. You don't have enough muscle mass to move that much weight enough to burn enough calories to start losing weight. It requires surgery.

Your post makes it sound like you maintain weight without eating. He has to be eating an assload to support his frame already, sure hes sedentary but losing weight ONLY requires eating less than your body burns. And every pound requires some amount of calories to maintain

Not really. It's input versus output, yes. Even at 1000lbs, he's most likely bed-ridden, which means he doesn't burn much energy each day at all. He could probably eat very little and still maintain his weight. Changing what you eat and how much is only half the picture. If he's not burning much energy, it doesn't matter how little he eats.

Fat people don't have to eat constantly to maintain their weight.

These are the fat people I genuinely feel sorry for. You simply CANNOT get that big by being lazy and hungry in the conventional sense. He's clearly got very little control over his weight. His brain is probably deficient in the same way an alcoholic's is, only with food instead of booze. Since you can't stop eating entirely...yeah. :(

Such a high percentage of our weight is burned off through just normal movement there is no way that someone can be so heavy without having something chemically wrong with them. His body basically immediately turns all intake into stored energy and doesn't disspell anything.

Even sedentary you burn more calories when you are heavier. There's no "weight" where you can no longer burn calories or lose weight by cutting calories and then exercising when you are more mobile.

I saw that show too. At first I felt bad for him but after watching the show you see how much a prick he is. He's rude and pissy with his wife. Treats her pretty bad and he blames everyone else for the reason he's fat. Yet he'd eat garbage all day and shovel it down his throat. And demand his wife constantly feed him.

All these doctors basicly saved his life and then he goes back to over eating even after all the surgery and people helping him. And treats them all like crap too. He lost a lot then gained a lot right back. Takes no responsibilty at all for his wieght or eating.

When he dies I wont feel bad for him. He just doesn't care and he'll reap the lifestyle and attitude he lived. If he'd change his attitude maybe they can save him or help correct anything too that might be making it worse. But he doesn't want to change.
