You went to a bottom of the barrel public school in a slum some place, right?
Maybe he just didn't pay attention during math.

I also agree that this show will not last long. It was a decent idea, but just ridiculous overall. The questions are actually pretty tough, especially for someone who hasn't reviewed it in 15+ years. The kids are simply memorizing the answers by reviewing days before the show.... so they are confident and look smart. It's kind of like getting a paper cert. Lousy execution imho.

Except for Columbus Day, I got all the others right, including Mayflower and Andrew Johnson....and I've lived in the US only since '97. If you were in the US in the late '90s and had access to CNN, there's no way you could not know that - John Quincy Adams, sheesh! The only reason I remembered area of a triangle was because I wrote my GMAT a couple of months back :p

I hope he didn't say Clinton. :(

I used to always get Andrew Johnson and Andrew Jackson mixed up because of the similarity of their names, but it's easy if you remember that both Lincoln and Kennedy were assassinated and followed by presidents named Johnson.

At very least you should be able to identify that it was the president after Lincoln, because that period of American history gets so much attention in schools.

That makes the show not applicable to life, not unappealing...

It doesn't matter if you haven't seen it in 20 years. Most of these questions were trivial beyond words. I mean a few of them were kind of harsh--like the impeachment question or columbus day if you don't care about national holidays... but past that... yeah, retarded. Actually, there's no excuse for the guy who claimed to be a history major. Way to waste 4(?) years of your life and look like an utter moron on TV. good going!!!!11one!1

I dunno, my friends and I thought the show was hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing... ridiculing the stupid is awesome.

What were some of the questions, other than the impeachment question?

The appeal is watching some UCLA grad be a doofus and miss the first 4 questions.

***Spoiler Alert *****

I mean, the guy had a 50/50 chance to answer whether polar bears eat penguins and misssed it!

I think the deal here is the UCLA grad is focused on his major, and the fifth grader is focused on being an overly "intelligent" child, and winning. Anyone in fifth grade could remember that polar bears don't eat penguins because of the fact they live in seperate hemispheres. Why? Because it's fun for them. The UCLA grad wants to make his money, not know something that won't apply anywhere else.

Then maybe the UCLA grad should have gone to a trade school instead of a university. There is no excuse for a graduate from any 4 year university not knowing general knowledge questions like "What is a trapezoid" etc.

i'm a 4th grader...

i got 7 right. i misread the representative one. i thought it said president for some reason. i also got the turtle one wrong. a turtle is an amphibian - true or false? i said true. the reason i said true was because i just watched Over the Hedge the other day and they kept calling the turtle a reptile and he kept saying he was an amphibian... I always thought they were reptiles too until i heard that. i know i shouldn't get my info from a animated movie, but you'd think they would have got it right...

i forget which other one I got wrong. oh, the autumn equinox. i said october.

So you got them all wrong huh? Good job dumb ass.
(Just funnin' with ya) :)

But the thing I didn't like about the show was . . .they only asked like 5 questions in the whole 30 minutes. WAY too slow paced. They need to pick it up a little.

hmm I guess I'm only as smart as a fourth grader, which is still really good! Maybe I can skip a few grades now...!

Just an FYI, none of that stuff was taught to me in elementary school...

i have to agree for most of it. maybe the representatives question, the largest SA country, and the ostrich question, but the others I don't recall.

Those are the questions? They were amazingly easy. "What's the largest country in South America by area?" "Does the moon give off its own light?" And the 5th grade was 25 years ago for me. C'mon...

The only one I got wrong was autumnal equinox, which I put october instead of september.

I got them all, and Andrew Jackson was the first President impeached (I think it was for the First National Bank)
I learned about AJ in high school though, I find it very unlikely 10 year olds would know this.

I disagree. I remember learning these things back in elementary school. Andrew Johnson sounds like my 5th grade US History class.

edit: doh! still morning :eek::)
