Chipotle is asking customers not to bring firearms into its stores after it says gun rights advocates brought military-style assault rifles into one of its restaurants in Texas.

I don't see a problem. Chipotle wants to ban firearms from their property, that's up to them. Those who want to carry can opt to simply not go to chipotle. Everyone gets to make their own choices.

No, what bothers me is that open carry idiots keep screwing it up for those who have CHLs.

Rather than go to restaurants armed to the teeth why not go to their elected officials seeking to get the law changed? Open carry supporters will never win against "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America". They make it known where they're having meetings and the ignorant open carry dunderheads show up like clockwork. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America petitions the restaurant chain after it occurs and the restaurants ban firearms every time.

Most law abiding CHL holders take their obligation seriously and don't carry where it's against the law to do so.

Yes, everyone that carries concealed does so 24/7.

I only carry concealed when traveling with large sums of cash. during said travel I sometimes go in a restaurant to eat. It's nice to be able to go into a restaurant without having to disarm in the parking lot as this tends to bring unwanted attention.

Chipotle owns (or owns the lease on) the property their restaurant inhabits. Therefore they can control who enters that property so long as it comports with public accommodation laws. You have no right under the law to carry a gun onto someone else's property if they don't want you to, so you would at least be guilty of trespassing in this case if they wanted to enforce it.

Just a wild guess, without knowing specific laws from state to state, but I think that if they hadn't said anything about concealed carry, they'd be in the clear after some incident involving a concealed carry holder shooting a random customer on accident. But, specifically having a policy that says, "we allow concealed carry" might open them up to litigation in the case of some unfortunate event. Basically, idiots excessively displaying their right to open carry, with rifles, which led to a lot of uncomfortable customers complaining, resulted in Chipotle taking this step to keep the rest of their customers comfortable.

People have a lot of rights. It'd be a nicer world if they chose to use those rights appropriately, vs. being confrontational with those rights. Going into restaurants with a AK-47 strapped to your back, because you can, isn't that much removed from the idiots who exercise their right to free speech by protesting at funerals.

By not protesting at funerals does not mean you have less of a right to freedom of speech. Let's all agree that you have the right to protest at funerals. But, just don't be a jackass. Likewise, with the guns.
