E8400

8800gts 640mb
Win 7 RC x64

Something to do with your machine/combination of components, imo.

Thanks for the feedback guys......I am beginning to think it is my 4870......that seems to be the only constant.

Sure, I can wait and save $20 in a few months during a good sale, if even that long... or I could get to playing a really good game right now.

SP was terribly short, but I knew that and expected it. Playing on Hardened made it last a little longer due to frequent deaths, and added a lot of frustration, but still greatly enjoyed the SP.

Really digging the MP. They made some changes since MW and I really like them. Right now still getting the feel for the variety of maps. And quite a few of the maps I really, really detest. The one with the open field and trenches is absolutely pure shit. I hate it.

My 4850 comes to a crawl too. Some kind of rendering issue with it on some parts of the game is my guess.

Like I said, I've noticed talk in other support forums for other games in regards to this same card. If I were you, I'd suggest getting a different video card.

I have a 4870 2GB. I have it maxed, with triple buffering and Vsync, it's at 60fps for 95% of the time.

4870, X3 720 3.5Ghz, XP x86.

It's weird to think that the problem could be the 4870. I used W7 on this rig for a few months and never saw any issues like that.

I had alot of stutter in the first level with the humvee, i turned on vsync and it helped

Just as a FYI the game ran wonderful on my system at 1920x1200 using a 512mb 4870 and Win 7 64bit. Only had slow downs once in the game though I can't remember which part it was, just that it was noticeable since the rest had been so smooth.

Can any of you guys point me to the threads on IW or Steam forums where they talk about this issue with the 4870?

I have a low end system with an E4500 and a 9600GT. It had slow downs in one level when my friend played it. I turned down a few settings and when I played the game I had no problems, and was still playing with close to max settings. I only play at 1440x900 resolution though.

If turning your fan up helped a bit then your 4870 could be overheating, especially if you're getting freezing and lockups as this is a pretty common problem. I would seriously investigate an overheating issue if MW2 runs as expected for the first couple minutes (from cold) but then crashes later on. On the other hand, if you get crashes right off the bat sometimes then this probably isn't the issue.

Hey guys....I checked the IW forums and some guy was saying how changing all the texture details from "Extra" down to "high" fixed the issues and so far so good.

What was weird was not only did I have freezes and lockups but it screwed up the mission and like I could no longer progress and just wandered from the point I experienced the freeze. Bizarre, anyway I am just happy it is no longer happening.
