Hey guys....I checked the IW forums and some guy was saying how changing all the texture details from "Extra" down to "high" fixed the issues and so far so good.

What was weird was not only did I have freezes and lockups but it screwed up the mission and like I could no longer progress and just wandered from the point I experienced the freeze. Bizarre, anyway I am just happy it is no longer happening.

This is what I did also to eliminate the slowdowns. I thought is was just an issue with my low end system (9600GT, E4500), but maybe it is a problem with the game itself.

I can't believe I just dropped $59.99 on MW2 for the PC last week and I was dying to play it all last week.

This game is in some seriously need of some TLC. I can't believe the utter crap that I just installed on my PC. Now, I know what you are thinking and yes, I did a fresh format and reinstalled Win7 x64 with all the LATEST drivers so I know this isn't the PC.

From the time I launch the game it is a stuttering mess and even the first level SP mission is broken as I run out of the school and have no idea where to go as my compass and meter gauge that tells me how far away I am are not even showing up. Not to mention the constant freezes and lock ups I have been experiencing. And I know its not just me with the all the web pages stating the same issues.

IW needs to come out with a patch and FAST!

I would not go so far as to say the worst game ever, just the biggest insult to the PC community which made the series popular in the beginning. I actually enjoyed the single player but am very disappointed in the consolization of the game.
Anyway, I found another serious problem with the game yesterday. Steam or the Steam Cloud or whatever was down and I could not play the game. Steam said it could not connect with the cloud and if I played the game any previous progress could be lost. If I buy a game on steam, I expect to have to be connected to steam to play it. However, this should not be the case if you bought the retail DVD version.
Actually I probably would not have bought the game at all except I have a friend that really wanted to play the game, and we are taking turns playing it. Actually we are taking turns because the coding is so crappy that you cannot have 2 separate users on the same computer, but I dont want to get started on another rant.

*sniff* *sniff* mmmm, I smell the rotting corpse of the PC gaming industry. Give it another 3-4 years max, and all next-gen consoles will support 1080p at 120hz, and PCs will only be for the 5% of gamers playing MMORPGs at 2k+ resolutions.

PC's have been doing 1080p for years

Yea just like they told is 1080p at 60hz for the current gen consoles. Bullshit.

We aren't expecting a new console generation for at least 5 years, possibly longer. Development costs are just too expensive for consoles. Personally, I predict a resurgence in the importance of the PC in the gaming market.

PS: Weren't we already promised 1080p on current gen consoles? Most of the games on my Xbox 360 aren't even 720p. I play PC games at 1920x1200.

If you didn't read the whole thread the issue was fixed with a texture setting change. I went down to "high" and everything works perfectly.

people need to open their eyes or learn to read. the box specifically says an "internet connection is required. if you don't agree, return the game."

I bought mine 2 days after it was released on Steam, typically this gives steam time to work out all the issues with their system and the game.

It worked flawlessly and I actually enjoyed the game. Though I'm still trying to adjust to the IWnet thing.

I never said I did not agree, but I don't have to like it. I am just saying that this is another unfortunate development in PC gaming, or what is left of it.

I don't have a console, and primarily bought the game because a friend wanted to play it with me. I could either live with the conditions or not play the game, so I chose to play the game.

By the way, I have 20/20 vision and an a college graduate, so I think I can read quite well.

Your overclock might not be as stable as you think.

Guys, if you read above I stated that I fixed the issue with changing the texture details down to "High" from "Extra". That essentially fixed all my issues. Weird quirk, but did the trick.

It actually makes sense considering your video card has a low amount of memory. Extra textures probably just require more video memory to run smoothly.

No, you will have to turn some settings down.
