One of these days I might have to reinstall this game. I got bored after the first couple of weeks (the game doesn't have the depth of the older TF games) but with all of these updates it might keep my interest a little longer.
I'm curious as to exactly how it lacks the depth. I'll be the first to admit that I would take Q1TF recreated in Source over TF2 any day. I loved Q1TF to death. Really though, how much less depth does TF2 have? They took out grenades (which I do miss), and detpacks. Ok, ok, so other class changes here and there (no flame rocket, etc.) as well. But they added things here and there as well such as the uber, multiple weapon options, etc. I really wish they'd put hunted in.
The maps are very small and don't allow a lot of variation in gameplay - you always feel like there's the thing you're "supposed" to be doing, and there isn't much else to it. Most of the classes are pretty shallow with limited options. Despite making the rocket jump a first class citizen, they removed other neat tricks like conc/det/sniper jumping.
I don't know, most of it is just a feeling of being "restricted" into a certain mode of play. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't feel like it's particularly open to experimentation.
