We had a good game going on the server last night. Not sure how many were ATers, but it was a decent group.

I think you may want to consider dropping to 20 players max though as some people were complaining of lag when we hit maximum (I think it's 24 right now?). Also, the time per round seems a little long, but just a little, so it may be good to drop it down slightly.

I'd be happy to be an admin, though I have minimal experience with that type of thing. Last time I was an admin was for Halo PC...so yeah, quite a while ago. :)

I should be on tonight again for a bit, if anyone is up for a game.

Cheers,
KT

I've ran my own personal server for CS before, so I know quite a few of the admin commands. I won't be on tonight, though. I'll be playing Portal :p

I jumped on for awhile last night. My ping was kind of high, about 100 but it ran smoothly until the server filled up then I started lagging a bit. Of course my connection isn't too great in the first place but I second the idea of switching to 20 players in hopes that my ping may get better.

Does it run off of your own personal computer? If so then it won't be able to support more than 4 people.

I'll see if i can get my bandwidth upped some, i'd liek to be able to hit 24. Unless you think your connectiosn can't handle 24 ppl then i 'll knock it down to 20.

More bandwidth is an even better idea.

I've just been using in-game. Seems to work pretty well.

I usually just type stuff. I have it ingame voice chat bound to mouse4 and TF2 doesn't like to recognize that button unless I tab out and open and close my mouse properties. It takes awhile for it to recover after I tab so I usually just go without. I really wish they'd make alt-tab work better.

My dedicated server for [SB] Sloppy Bros: 35.10.237.245:27015

"Sloppy Bro's HugItOutfest '07"

Tested with 24 players. Working flawlessly at the moment. All AT'ers welcome! I'll be on later tonight > [SB] jhbball

I tried to get onto Anand's Crazy Meat Shack and it says the server is not responding. Is it currently down?

It is up. It just says that initially when it is full. If you hit the refresh button on the bottom right hand corner it will display the server info. it seems ot be a genereal tf2 bug, not just with our server.

Oh and an update on the admin mod....still not up yet but i am working on it, shoudl be up late late tonight. I don't belie map votes are part of the code yet, but as soon as it is ill add it.

I made a few minor adjustments to the server settings. This may or may not clear some "lag" issues up. Let me know if i broke it instead =)

Edit 1: Admins should be up and running tomorrow. I still have not found the way to adjust the timelimit for the individual rounds yet...

Well that was a ton of fun. It was hard to stop playing. A few questions from a TF2 noob...

1. Is voice chat (v) heard by all players or just by your team?
2. Is typed chat seen by all players? If not, how do you type something that is seen by everyone?
3. Is there a map that can be brought up or do you basically just have to memorize the maps?
4. Is there any point in being an engineer in an offensive game?

Voice is only heard by your team while you're alive, if you're dead I think everyone that's dead can hear it, maybe just your dead teammates, though.

Typed chat can be seen by either. It's been awhile since I've typed, but Y is chat to all, and either T or U is team only.

Gotta memorize the maps

Offensive sentrying rocks. Build it closer and closer to their base.

It ticks me off to no end seeing so many 2fort only servers already. I wish valve would step in like they did and filter those servers out like the 32 player and other custom ones. I find a awesome server, good ping, good players..then notice the map never changes and 2 fort only! Not only that it was not even in server info so you have to join to see. :/

I hope valve releases a Map pack or something before holidays to get rid of these lame servers so more maps to play. 2fort is not even that "great" of a map, its fun in server rotation every now and then..but all the time? Thats like Dust only servers in CS.

That is true about voice unless they have sv_talk 1 (I think that's the setting) on, then anyone can hear you. Some servers do this.

Correct, Y is chat all, U is team chat by default.

Yep

Also, the teleporters are hugely important when you are trying to continually press and attack, otherwise the reds can regain some of the progress you made while you are trying to run back to the last holding point.

I agree for the most part, though a single map can be fun sometimes. I only play Office in CS:S, unless I am playing GG.

There should be a filter though or at least the title should say it is one map only, that is completely stupid.

I generally don't join maps that are currently on 2fort. Gravelpit is my favorite map, followed very closely by Dustbowl, so I tend to join a server on one of those.

I love both those maps so far.

My only big contention with this game so far is that the Medic UberCharge...it needs to be changed so that when a medic ubercharges another player they cant Cap a control point. Playing dustbowl earlier this morning the other team spamed soldiers, medics and heavies and thats all they did was ubercharge rush as a pack the control point and cap it while they were invincible. Really made things kinda lame as there was nothing we could to stop it despite having a really nice defensive setup(multiple sentry guns, demo traps etc)

I actually think that is a good idea. When uber you should only be able to just work on taking out as much defense as possible, or absorb the hits, and let someone else run in and cap the CP. Sitting on the CP while uber to cap it is just too much (though I'm guilty of doing it myself).

I didn't think that worked... If you're ubered it won't cap, uneless someone not ubered is there.

Hmm, I thought it did. I'll have to test it out...

I seem to remember a certain ubered-heavy standing on the cap point blasting me to bits on dustbowl the other night...
:p
