You never heard of "office hours" before? Do you expect your landlord to answer phone calls at all hours of the day and night for "non-emergency" shit?
Hell, being Saturday, you're lucky you even got a response before Monday.

A clothes dryer is emergency! How in the hell am I supposed to do my laundry before work next week?

In b4 somebody tells me to put up a clothesline .. in an apartment complex..

It's a Saturday and a clothes dryer not working is not an emergency. Telling your LL at 8AM on a Saturday is not appropriate, especially if there is a system in place to fill out work orders.

And there are plenty of ways to air dry in an apartment. If you so desperately need to do laundry, find a laundromat.

Do what a homeowner would do if their clothes dryer broke and they couldn't replace it or get someone to fix it in time - go to a laundromat. Stuff happens in life regardless of you already having other plans. Deal with it or get used to being miserable with dirty clothes.

That's a non-emergency. I wouldn't dream of texting anyone before 8:00 AM on a weekday or 9:00 AM on a Saturday/Sunday (probably closer to 10:00 AM).

Seriously. I don't understand why you would do that. Then, after being told of your faux pas, you would still come to an Internet forum and advertise your ignorance to the world.

What's wrong with you?

It's a dryer. You're a troll.

Also, you said you were "just freshening up." That doesn't imply that you had absolutely no clean / dry clothes to wear.

A dryer is a non-emergency, and you're an embarrassment to the first world problem thread posters. That said, "no texts before 9" is bullshit. A text is the phone equivalent of email. She's under no obligation to answer immediately, and if she can't control her Pavlovian response to answer everything that comes on the phone, she should probably just get rid of it.

Shouldn't this be merged with the "CBD" thread or "First World Problem" thread? No, not the "FWP", that's a humorous thread.

A legitimate emergency maintenance issue would be a water leak or malfunctioning door lock preventing you from accessing your apartment. Or an alarm going off that can't be silenced.

This is just a normal maintenance issue. About as normal as any maintenance issue could possibly be.

No. Text messages are generally less asynchronous compared with email. You typically leave text notifications on, even after hours, so people can contact you about something that's actually important and worth disturbing you over.

I leave all notifications on. If it's immediately important, you make a phone call, or stop by in person. Everything else is a "when you feel like dealing with it" priority.

No... what's wrong with YOU?

YOU clearly have some kind of emotional inbalance.

I'm new to apartment life, wasn't sure what constituted a true emergency.

Posting in a futurefields thread.

No texts before 9am is bullshit if there's an emergency. I can't blame her though for getting mad because you were bitching about the dryer at 7am on a Saturday. You're not going to get a repairman at that time anyway.

Because I have things to do today I was "freshening up" some clothes in the dryer when it suddenly stopped working.

I texted my landlord at 7:56 that the dryer had suddenly stopped working. She texted back asking me to fill out a work order and that the maintenance guy "should" come today. And then said please don't text her before 9:00 AM in the future because "she was asleep"

Well, isnt it the responsibility of the landlord if one of their tenants has a situation like this? I dont understand how she can tell me to wait until 9:00 to text her problems. I have things to do today...

I'm not sure if you're an idiot, troll, or this is a 1st world problem. But, the solution: have your wife or girlfriend do your laundry for you.

You're assuming I have a wife or girlfriend.

Looks like you're the idiot, troll etc...
