Good lord. Who would respond to your "emergency" if you owned your own washer and dryer? Paramedics? Police? Firemen? FFS, that is not an emergency.

If I owned it, it would be my responsibility to call repairman or replace it.

Unless I'm missing some hidden "gotcha" element to your question.

No... what's wrong with YOU?

YOU clearly have some kind of emotional inbalance.

I'm new to apartment life, wasn't sure what constituted a true emergency.

I wasn't always "new" to apartment life, but it's common fucking sense. Your LL is a person - a human being - with her own life. Humans require sleep, relaxation, and recreation. She's not supposed to devote her life to being available 24/7/365.

She told me when I moved in if there is an emergency text her anytime. Like I said, I'm new to apartment life and wasn't sure what exactly defines an emergency.

That was sufficient further information to make a final determination: your parents did not do a very good job. You would think that anyone old enough to move out on their own would be able to apply common sense to determine what an emergency is. Then again, people get the wrong order at the drive-thru and call 911. On the other hand, those people are the ones who get in trouble with the police, because any reasonable person has enough common sense to know better. Hence, your landlord possibly being a bit irate over being bothered by a trivial maintenance issue early in the morning.

You're right, OP! This is an emergency situation. If the dryer isn't fixed at this moment, perhaps you should escalate it up the chain of command and call 911. That usually works out best.

I love this thread so much.

And I now officially hate young people.

Gonna be a good weekend.

And you think there are 24—hour emergency response appliance repairman? It's NOT an emergency.

Which is why we keep telling you to look at it as if you were the appliance owner. It's not some mystery that you have to "figure out."

But I'm not the owner, she is.

I texted her letting her know it stopped working. I didnt text her demanding a repairman.

people who complain about getting texts when notifications are completely in their control... /sigh. you don't have to answer it, so put your dick back in your pants and ignore it if you don't feel like responding. i text people literally at any hour of the day with no expectation of an immediate response and i don't give two shits if the beep wakes them up because they're in control of that 100%. i expect and receive the same treatment, which is perfectly acceptable. it takes all of three seconds to make my phone quiet at night and then people are given the luxury of sending whatever they want whenever they want instead of needing to wait. if something pops into their brain, they can fire it off and that's that.

with that said, why would you text the landlord if there's a more official way to handle this? also, you don't even need a dryer at all. we don't use ours sometimes and there's never a need to call upon the power rangers to save the day. l2adultbetter.

Common sense says this is *not* an emergency.

There is a consensus on this. You seem to be the only exception.

Its a personal emergency if I have wet clothes and need to get to a meeting (i dont, but hypothetically, that would be an emergency)

I don't think there are 24 hour repairmen.

Exactly why the LL should not be available 24 hours for such an issue.

If it was even remotely possible to define this as an "emergency," then 24 hour repair service would most definitely be a thing.

Common sense would tell you: If there's no standard 24-hour on-call service for this sort of thing, IT'S NOT AN EMERGENCY.

You said your clothes weren't wet. You said you were "freshening them up", which means you were doing the lazy/no time to wash method of removing stink.

I understand now it is not defined as an emergency. If it happens again I will wait until 9 to text her.

i was almost-kinda-sorta trying to see your point of view, but you lost me here. you're clearly retarded.

if you have a meeting, try doing your laundry regularly enough that you don't have wet clothes immediately before it starts. i feel like a person who doesn't understand this type of thing is too stupid to be an actual adult. are you really an emancipated 14 year old?

Do you know what "hypothetically" means?

Still isn't an emergency. That's the gods punishing you for being lazy, and waiting until you were completely out of clothes before doing wash. That's called a learning experience, and makes you a better person.
