It's a Saturday and a clothes dryer not working is not an emergency. Telling your LL at 8AM on a Saturday is not appropriate, especially if there is a system in place to fill out work orders.

And there are plenty of ways to air dry in an apartment. If you so desperately need to do laundry, find a laundromat.

No. Text messages are generally less asynchronous compared with email. You typically leave text notifications on, even after hours, so people can contact you about something that's actually important and worth disturbing you over.

I leave all notifications on. If it's immediately important, you make a phone call, or stop by in person. Everything else is a "when you feel like dealing with it" priority.

Because I have things to do today I was "freshening up" some clothes in the dryer when it suddenly stopped working.

I texted my landlord at 7:56 that the dryer had suddenly stopped working. She texted back asking me to fill out a work order and that the maintenance guy "should" come today. And then said please don't text her before 9:00 AM in the future because "she was asleep"


Well, isnt it the responsibility of the landlord if one of their tenants has a situation like this? I dont understand how she can tell me to wait until 9:00 to text her problems. I have things to do today...
