As you probably all know the SC just confirmed, for now, that Texas cannot supercede the federal government in controlling the border. But they are defying that. And many other regressive red states are backing them, and also some sending National Guard troops. TX is threatening to secede - like it's a threat. Listen, please leave but take Florida, the entire Deep South, and half the shitty midwest with you, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Stop threatening us with a good time!

This could get hairy if troops get involved. What do you think Biden will do? In an election year which does change some things, it always affects political decisions in some way or another.

I think Biden should throw Cruz and Conryn and the Texas congressional delegation into the Potomac with chains if they secede!

They should not be blocking our ability to fix things if they aren't part of the country!

Well if they secede they lose all representation in our government. THAT'S A HUGE PART OF THE BENEFIT OF THOSE FUCKERS LEAVING!!!!!

Interesting that a dispute with a Supreme Court ruling is characterized as a federal action.

Also interesting that the exact same states were enthusiastic supporters of the Supreme Court's action in Roe v. Wade.

I think it is common sense that the NATIONAL borders should be controlled by the national government.

Biden shouldn't do a military move, he should do an economic move-cut off all federal payments for the National Guard in the rebellious states, for example, and all federal payments and benefits to Texas until they come into compliance with the Court's ruling. Play chess against these chumps.

Biden could literally close the border in Texas like they are demanding and it would absolutely devastate the Texas economy lol.

The "Texas Military Department" is composed of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard. As I understand ... It’s not clear if it’s National Guardsmen or State Guardsmen who are denying Border Patrol entrance to the park.

According to my cousin who lives in Texas, the term “Texas National Guard” is a misleading oxymoron. The organization in question is the Texas Military Department. Or something. Someone needs to remind Texas that it is no longer an independent country.

As he explained it to me ... The first two components (Army and Air Guard) are subject to being federalized, but the State Guard is not. The State Guard is sort of a pale imitation of the Army National Guard. It’s composed of a mix of bored former service members and fair number of volunteers who frankly just want to play soldier. There’s little equipment – state guardsmen even have to buy their own uniforms.

According to him, they do a decent enough job in non-military scenarios like assisting with disaster response. But if Abbott’s counting on them to lead the Texas defense in the second civil war, then it’ll be over in about three minutes.

Immediately furlough all federal employees, close all federal facilities and stop all payments going to the state. Texas would be in a full blown recession in a week.

But seriously nationalize the guard and be done with it. If that doesn't work send in the 101st and if anyone dates shoot at them (they won't) hold their leadership including the governor responsible.

The US Military also has to purchase their own uniforms. I was stunned when the cost of uniforms in boot camp was deducted from my pay. Although they will issue new uniforms if they are destroyed in the line of duty... Also if they change the style you will be given a uniform allowance to cover the change to some extent.

Biden should just nationalize the guard and if they refuse to follow orders I hope they enjoy a nice stay at Hotel Leavenworth.

I don't get this call for federalizing the national guard at all. That would actually be trampling the 2nd Amendment, and would not be supported by most states (even ones that normally are pretty blue, like Minnesota or Michigan), which will actually galvanize support for the traitors.

This won't help matters as the majority of the guardsman in these states (now up to 25!!) hate Biden's guts anyways. And a large portion of them would gladly side with their state.

Who's going to enforce this? So you're looking at a force on force confrontation.

Granted it's all mostly spectacle as the GOP claims "invasion" yet refuse to help pass legislation. But for Biden to take a drastic measure like this, in an election year, would be a political fail. He has lost this one.

Yes it's a huge blow to federal power but who cares? The GOP was eventually going to defy all conventions/laws/etc and do whatever they wanted, be it before they're in power or not.

The national guard is federalized all the time. It has dual reporting to the state and to the feds. Nothing in the second amendment prevents this.

Regardless, send in the army and if any of these guardsmen try to interfere prosecute them and their command.

Meh, I am starting to get it. Living in a State or even close to the border where there is a continuous conga line of people entering illegally must get very tiring.
Just imagine your car getting hit two or three times by an uninsured, unlicensed driver or the apartment next to you has 25 people living in 800 square fee and all the other random stuff that can come up it is going to wear you down.
This isn’t saying nobody should be allowed in, this is say there is a process and while that process could be improved it needs to be followed.
At some point something needs to be done.
While I haven’t read much about this I suspect the Governors tactics are probably very cruel and pandering to the base. Nobody should gain political or any power by being cruel to others.

They give you a full allowance for all uniform purchases, if you need more than they give you that's on you, but the clothing stipend is plenty.

What would that have to do with the second? 2A doesn't state that the federal govt can't (further?) federalize your militias.

In some past societies they used to skin people alive and hang their bodies from the ramparts as a warning to their enemies. I support bringing that back. And I think 15 governors have just volunteered to decorate some ramparts.
