I was in Houston last fall, flown in by Saudi Aramco to be interviewed for a position in Saudi Arabia. Ate a lot of good food the three days I was there. Seemed like everywhere go in Houston there was a steakhouse or Tex-Mex joint, that was jam packed with people, even in the middle of the week.

You realize that is in a single are in the vastness that is Texas. There is 890 or so miles of I-10 in Texas, and that is just going East - West. LA metro area ranks worse than both Dallas and Houston in air quality.

This.

Texas is a huge state, and the polluted areas are few and far between.

Today is "Go Texan" day in Houston, Texas. It's almost like a holiday. That's how awesome we are. Do you have a "Go [insert state here]" day in your city, OP? Didn't think so.

When I read that the first thing that sprang to mind was make-a-wish kids. Like Go Texan day is there to lift the spirit of the down and out state or something. "You can do it Texas! You just have to believe!"

Texas is one of only two states where people seem damn near violently proud to be native. The other state being Hawaii.

IMO Texas sucks but different strokes for different folks so who cares.
