I already stated my position.
I know you did. Don't be mad at me because your position was dumb, that's your fault.
You are the one spouting idiocy. I'm done.
I hope you use this time to reconsider how silly what you wrote was.
I love it when people on the internet think they've discovered some Great Truth that nobody else has figured out. Here's a hint: lots of very smart people think about this stuff all day every day. Your ideas weren't unique, and they haven't been adopted because they were dumb.
It's a basic common sense you moron, and it is in effect in many states that aren't so full of partisan asshats that they can see common ground.
So throw up your straw men and declare victory, you are a half witted troll and nothing more.
You still don't know what a straw man is. Your posts had nothing to do with common ground, they were about a silly idea that falls apart in reality. In fact my posts were the ones talking about the intersection of freedoms, what actually constitutes common ground.
I don't need you to make a post admitting that you were wrong, but you could at least stop trying to fight it.
Add illiterate to the list.
Wasn't Texas pleading with the federal government to give them FEMA monies to put out the fires just a year or two ago?
Yes! That's the Rights dirty little secret. The Red states suck off the Gubermint teat the hardest...true story Rightists.
Can someone link the Bloomberg article with the statistics showing the top welfare receipients in this country are all red states.
I have to agree with you on that one.
It took a long while for me to adjust to the fact that Vermonters see the speed limit as the speed limit. Its not the speed you should drive, its the maximum speed you may drive.
We pay our taxes, shouldn't we get something in return?
If we can not ask for help, then its time to stop all taxes going to washington.
A lot of Yankees don't seem to know Texas history.
Before what the US now calls Texas, this land was part of Mexico. And the law required that all landowners be Mexican citizens. Consequently, anyone that is an 'original' Texan was also a Mexican.
We have had a war with Mexico. And we won that one.
After that war, Texas was an independent country.
Then after we chose to join the US, we participated in the war of northern aggression. And we lost that one. Though from many of the attitudes expressed here, I don't know why the Yankees fought to keep us in their Union.
If you think that this Texan gives a damn whether my federal taxes go to Washington D.C., Mexico City, or Austin, you would be mistaken. so:
Screw you, we're from Texas.
Yes, I'm sure that's a good idea......COMRADE.
Then rename the country the Democratic Socialist Obamanation, and crown him Emperor Barry.
You might be right that in a strategic sense keeping the south might not have been the best choice.
You guys did secede in order to help protect the rights of slaveholders and slave states though, which is so morally disgusting that you probably deserved an ass kicking for that alone.
Texas has elected George Bush and Rick Perry as governors.
Seriously, how long would you expect an independent Texas to last?
Ok, what state other than Texas could stand on it's own?
Texas - 268,581 square miles
France - 260,558 square miles
This is not rhode island or delaware we are talking about, this is Texas.
The question is, how long could the US last without Texas ports and refineries.
Do you live in one of the caves in the Natural Bridge Caverns or something? Or did you just realize that even though we are right next to Mexico you can get real weed, and you don't have to smoke that nasty brick? You've never been to Macedonia have you?
all the "fly over" states should do the same thing along with Hawaii.
The US would be fine without Texas ports and refineries. Why would it change anything? Is Texas going to secede and then suddenly decide to bankrupt itself by shutting off some of its most important export industries?
The only way that would happen would be in the case of a war, and Texas as already been on the losing side of one of those. Despite all the tough talk I doubt they want another beatdown.
Imagine Rick Perry leading Texas into battle
I agree, I would love to see most of the south secede from the rest of the states. The majority of red states are a vampire on the northeastern and west coast pocketbook. AKA, South Carolina for instance takes $2.47 from the federal government for every $1 it sends back.
Your sig is pretty ignorant. You act as if gas prices were ALWAYS $1.84 before Obama took office, conveniently not linking the gas price history of the Bush years. And I love it that you have to use Obama's middle name, as if it MEANS something. Another dog whistle for the racist right wing to denote someone as "other".
Here are the FACTS about gas prices:
Hint for those with a double digit IQ: click the 8 years tab.
Also another tip: presidents hardly have any impact on gas prices, OPEC and demand does.
I was sort of happy to see Obama use something similar to what I've been saying for quite awhile now. Gas was that cheap because we were in the middle of a worldwide economic collapse. We could certainly get it that cheap again, all we need is another worldwide economic collapse. The world might melt down, but gas will be cheap!
It would likely become a theocratic-based dictatorship. Texas is a pretty horrible place already, very high rates of poverty and such. I wouldn't expect an independent Texas to last very long because there will probably be a racial genocide there and the UN or the US would probably step in.
