Texas gets tough on illegals, unless you want a personal Mexican

Haha of COURSE you're the problem. Why wouldn't you be? Illegals are here to work. You're giving them work. Therefore, you are the problem. Sure - they are also the problem - but you are more the problem than they are.

You know why they are doing the work? Because Americans won't. Why would thye work if they can sit back and collect unemployment for years now, and get all kinds of other social services for doing absolutely nothing. Face it. Liberal politicians have created a system in America that rewards laziness.

It used to be I could get a neighborhood kid to mow my yard for $20. Now they don't want to do any work at all. They leech off of their parents until they are in their 20's and have been told they are special and unique and don't have to settle or work for anything. Just wait till the perfect opportunity comes along.
So it's not my fault or anyone that hires illegals faults. It's LAZY AMERICAN's fault.

I just saw an article in the Washington Post which stated because the latino presence is so strong there and illegals dont even try to hide any more, that Texas is lined up to be hardcore a Democrat state in the next elections.

Its not in the next several election cycles, but yes eventually Texas will have more latinos than whites. Its not because of illegal aliens. Latinos just tend to breed more than whites. Texas will more or less be a blue state sometime shortly after 2020.

Again - shirking responsibility. To cry out that lazy American's won't do this work therefore you HAVE to get an illegal is a ridiculous cop out - its like the drug dealer saying he can't help it, he's not to blame for selling it illegally, after all, the government should make it legal, then I wouldn't have to do this! The dealer is still a bigger criminal than the user, just like the employer of the illegal is the bigger criminal than the illegal.

Face it - if you hire an illegal immigrant, you belong in jail, and you are the reason we have an illegal immigration problem in this country. Period.

Again, why aren't we then going after teachers who knowingly allow illegal students in their class, city officials who declare their cities sanctuary cities, etc? Oh, thats right, because this is just about punishing the rich and wealth transfer.. nothing about actually solving the problem.

Your first question/point is not really valid because a SCotUS ruling in the '80s requires the public education system to educate children of illegal aliens.

You don't know and you don't want to know.

Actually I do. Should I just assume that since they are Hispanic that they could be illegal? I don't mind paying more money to insure that the people doing any work around my residence are legal US resident. However as a homeowner what realistic recurse do I have to make sure that any companies that I hire to work on my residence employee only legal US residents?

Lots of apologists for the wealthy in here, bottom line is if you employee illegals you should be punished, period, end of story.

And the one time yard mower isn't the problem, it's the people who hire full time staff directly that is the problem and the point of this ridiculous exemption. As usual the wealthy believe they deserve to live by a different set of rules than everyone else and its just wrong.

People who bitch about illegal aliens would bitch after there were no more illegal aliens and costs of certain goods and services would triple or quadruple.

Yea - like housekeeping. Maybe those lazy Americans like the aforementioned poster would have to get off his ass and clean his own house, rather than whining that lazy unemployed Americans force people to hire illegal aliens.

What do you mean, teachers don't get to handpick their students like the NFL draft? This is the first I've heard of this silliness. What an outrage!

How about requesting identification? Maybe instead of house worker, they could say 'day worker'. As in, if this person is expected to be in your employ for more than a day (to avoid having kids asked for ID if they're going around shoveling driveways), then you should get them to produce identification and take a photocopy.

Then it would not be knowingly, intentional, or reckless. If they don't ask for any ID, I would consider that reckless, and don't know why they wouldn't be charged.

They have pretty good fake IDs. We rarely catch illegals that apply by a visual of their ID, we have to use methods that most normal homeowners dont have access to nor should they be required to.

Serviemagic.com does background checks on contractors and their workers before recommending them to you, i think. This includes lawn care, not stuff like rebuilding kitchens.

People bitching about no longer benefiting from illegal activities doesn't register on my give-a-shit meter.

So how much time did Meg Whitman spend in jail?

People with the money for their own personal Mexican to do housework and watch their kids don't do jail time. Their lawyers provide cover.

This point would mean something if it were true but since Meg Whitman didn't do the initial hiring of the maid its useless.

The maid was part of an agency. This agency refereed here to Meg and sent here to work for Meg and only after this Illegal had provide fraudulent information to gain the job. Of course if you want to ignore the fact that the Illegal maid lied and fooled everyone around here for period of time then go on ahead. It would be on par with the logic used that is now providing this Illegal with legal console and unemployment by lib sympathizers who used her to tip the scales in the CA election.

If you're hiring them directly and not illegally paying them under the table, then you are already filling out paperwork such as a form 1099.

It's one simple extra step to also mail a copy of their ID to some agency for verification.

Anyone who cares about immigration law enforcement and is not a hypocrite should have no problem with requiring this one-time extra step. It is hypocritical for these Republicans to criminalize one form of illegal hiring while exempting their own nannies and maids.

And again, if you hire through an agency it could / should be that agency's responsibility to do this for you.

Every person jay walking, going 5 mph over the speed limit, or illegal going door to door mowing lawns is not something law enforcement needs to waste their time on. Some judges would laugh in a cop's face if he came to them with such petty B.S. and wasted the court's time and money. You can get on your high horse and claim the moral ground all you want, but 13 million illegal aliens is a real problem that requires realistic problem solving.

What if someone can afford to hire someone for $5/hour but not $7.25 an hour (minimum wage)? The crime is that it is illegal for an American citizen to work for less than $7.25 an hour, so it goes to someone else.

Or maybe you over value yourself and would rather underpay somebody to do your yard work because you think you are above it.

Lol, speaking of a lazy asshole, why don't you mow your own lawn?

Jay walking and driving 5 miles over the speed limit is a misdemeanor.

Entering the US illegally is a felony (edit: once its done more then once) but you're right its not right that local police should have to deal with this issue but unfortunately the federal government is failing big time (surprise!) at actually enforcing our immigration policy in a effective manner so as to not place this burden on local law enforcement in and around border states/areas.

It's already legal to confiscate someone's property if they find one pot plant growing on it. The fed and the states have no real interest in stopping illegal immigration when there is too much money to be made off cheap labor. These aren't just baby sitters either, but increasingly construction workers and people with real skills. Laws like this one don't just highlight hypocrisy in the system, but the breakdown of the system and the growing need for even decent paying low wage jobs by Americans.

Sounds like bullshit to me when I hear about 1000's applying for one janitor position and such. My own experience tells me different as well where I don't put ads in paper anymore for onslaught.

You sure don't think much of your fellow Americans, but of course you're good right.

Maybe kid thought your were an asshole or prev and stopped showing?

Depends on the janitor position but janitors working for schools districts can actually get payed well given the nature of the work they do and they have benefits to boot. In fact if a school janitor knows how to properly play the overtime system in their favor they can in some cases surpass the salary earned by a principal.

i used to do hiring..... alls they needed to present were a DL/ID and a SS-card . . . . too easy to spoof

Too easy to make difficult to spoof you mean. Since 9/11 states like mine have been going out of their way to make ID difficult to forge and difficult to obtain.

I don't see how pot has anything to do with this discussion but anyways.

Wage deflation is just one impact of illegal immigration. There is a also a political aspect in that these folks will eventually pop out a kid who can vote and that vote will matter to someone.

For examples you have places where they try to slowly creep in voting rights for illegals by first undermining local laws on who can vote/run for school board positions and issues to set precedent for future actions geared to granting illegals more and more rights that should be reserved for US citizens and legal immigrants.

Then I guess you don't know what an analogy is:

Analogy
noun
1. a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based: the analogy between the heart and a pump.

Yeah, and today's kids are all spoiled, stupid, and lazy and before long they'll be voting a commie in as president. That's the problem with this country, too many young people and too many immigrants! Send them all back to Africa or wherever, lock em up, or before long the whole country will fall apart.
