Man, I just tried it again, still nothing. Like .25 fps.

I guess memory has nothing to do with it.
if the computer you are trying it on is the one in your sig then something is wrong. You should be able to see it pretty well.

Yeah, my motherboard is messed up. Fried 5V connector, it's limping along, but I didn't think it would be *this* bad.
bummer on a nice baord 🙁 must be really screwed if a it's doing that bad whena SP athlon@1500 and your other hardware should be able to play the movie at a reasonable rate. Do you have warranty applicable? I would think that mb has at least a 3 year warranty.

WM9 Codec series fvcking owns.

I'd love to try out their 5.1.. which can be encoded as low as 128kbit.. Although I wouldnt bother... 320 would be pretty nice..

And WM9 at 64kbit with 2pass encoding = r0x0r.

Piece of cake on my system (see sig). I had no clue DVD quality could look that good. 🙂

I'm going to RMA it and then sell the replacement. I've got a Gigabyte MPX board coming tomorrow, I hope.

<crosses fingers>

Some of the DIMM slots are bad, and the computer is just running like crap. I can't really damage the motherbord anymore that it already is, so I'm running it. The funny thing is that I was going to do the 5V mod this weekend. Oh well.

I think WMP 9 is fscking up its own codec. Beause it ran perfectly fine on ATI player while on WMP9, it chocked to death.

That's because this is far better than DVD quality. DVD is 720x480.

Comparing these to DVD is like comparing DVD-A or SACD to CD! It's that much better.

At approximately 1:06 in the Coral Reef 1080P clip, pause it and look at the frame! The quality is excellent. Compare that to a screen cap from a DVD movie. :Q

What other players can I play this with? WMP chokes at my house, but I'm pretty sure it's not the system (3.06ghz, 1gb RAM, blah blah blah). RealOne? What else?

Rob

My system choked on the 720p Coral Reef Video... the 1080p was 1/2 fps. Athlon 1700XP+, 768Mb DDR, 128Mb GF4 Ti4200...

I think Fusion Media Player can play them.. Apparently the ATI media player can also..

You can also try increasing the priority of WMPlayer.exe to above normal or even high and then try playing them..

Will this work if I just install the WM9 codec pack (for IT Pros) that was lnked earlier?

I'm not interested in installing WMP9 at this time.

raped

I'm running a 2.4GHz P4 with 533 FSB

512 Rdram

and a 2 drive raid 0 setup

and the 1080 coral reef is rapping my computer every 20 seconds.

But then again it might help if I wasn't running 20 other programs in the background...

One suggestion for everyone. USE BSPLAYER.
On my 2400 XP WMP9 was Choppy and hell.
In BSPLAYER it was nice a smooth. Whenever WMP9 runs I think it runs cr@p in the background or something.

I don't know if Bsplayer supports 5.1 tho

My good deed for the day for those without WMP9, since it checks.

Oh, I put in the GA-7DPXDW+, got my SCSI to work, and reinstalled Windows (It wouldn't boot because the chipset changed from 760MP to 760MPX

), and it runs fine now. Rock on.

Ah, thank you. I couldn't even get to the friggin download page, it just took me to a page to download WMP 9, then it wouldn't let me start the download! (I presume because I'm not using IE)

It runs fine on my system save for a few scenes. I noticed that it hiccups at the same points in the movie every time I run it. I would think if it was a problem of not enough cpu power it would hiccup at random points throuout the movie.

gee, how funny. just ran the Snowboard one on my linux box with mplayer, smooooth as glass
dual athlon xp 1600, gf 3 ti 200, 512M ram AND agp is currently DISABLED and mplayer is NOT multithreaded, so only one cpu was used.

oh wait, let me check cpu usage...averages about 65%

just another indication that Windows...and Microsoft, suck the fat cack!

oh i forgot to say, im running window98 in vmware while im doing this so i could do the downloads. that's sucking about 20-30% cpu. once i get the rest download i'll quit vmare and post again

Well, I installed WM9 on my home monster, and it was completely humiliated by the hi-res coral reef video... Bwaaaaaahhhh!!! 🙁 All the others played fine. And, interestingly enough, I could not play the videos in Winamp3 when I installed just the codecs, but after installing the entire WM9 package, suddenly Winamp could play them, too. Fishy...

Finally an application that can bring my 2400+ XP to its knees... Gotta upgrade!!!

Playback was perfectly smooth. Win2k, radeon 8500, 512m RAM, Athlon 2700 (2400 oc'd). I was also running Prime95 in the background so I am not sure what my cpu usage was. Sure looked good. "Coral Reef Adventure" (1080p, 8.2 Mbps, 1:43 min, 102 MB). Maybe the raided HD's helped as well...

ran the coral and t2 movies, both were perfect, 2 min trailer..100mb file 🙂

p4 3.0c HT, 1gb kingston hyperX-3500, radeon 9700 pro
