Test Drive: Mazda 6

anyone here personally test drive it? 1st hand reviews...? i'm planning on sometime soon, just gotta find the time...

I test drove one last weekend, and it's a great car. If I could afford it, I'd get one to replace my demolished SVT Contour.

There is someone here who just got one.

I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

Last month most car magazines did a family sedan comparo. The Mazda 6 turned out to be second only to the Accord in most magazines.

Did you get the i or the s?

I got the s, silver, sport package, loaded. The i is not a bad deal since North America is the only place you can get the v6, the 4 cylinder will have more improvements avalible.

I just can't believe the value of the Mazda 6. I priced an s, completely tricked out for $25,000.

That was only for the 4 cylinder cars. They didn't do one for the 6 cylinders.

Car and Driver had a mix...some 6-cyl some only 4.

Thing is...the auto group I now work for owns dealerships that sells 6 of those 10 cars 🙂

i thought that it also was based on the mondeo. i'm pretty certain i read that in one of these articles that always pops up here

EDIT: nm its that ford will be using the engines designed for the 6 for the mondeo

I'd like to see how it stacks up against a new Honda Accord V6 with a manual.

The Accord V6/manual combo can only be had on the Coupe.

to bad a ford powerplant is in the 6.

The duratec is a good engine. The 2.5 L version made the top 10 engine list each year it was in the SVT Contour.

The 6 isn't based off the Mondeo.

Mazda 6 uses the same chassis as the Contour and 626.
No, it isn't. Its a new platform.

The Contour was based off the Mondeo platform, and the latest 626 was off its own platform (the old 626 shared platforms with the Mondeo).
