My local dealership can't keep the Mach-E in stock, they're selling like crazy! I was extremely impressed with my test-drive of it. I am trying hard not to be too judgmental about the exterior design vs. the Mustang name lol.

I watched my driving on the way home today & man, I use the top of the steering wheel SO MUCH! I rest my hand on it, I use it for turning, I use it for spirited turning with two hands, I grab it for hand-over-hand when looping around, etc.

I do want to get a hands-on with the yoke, but I don't know anyone who has ordered one yet. I applaud Tesla for being brave with the design. At the very least, it LOOKS super cool!

What's the long-term review so far?

I'm still holding out for the Cybertruck. COVID ruined my moving plans...the one house we liked got outbid by $20k last year, and now everything is $100k over where it should be, so I'm stuck renting, which means parking outdoors with no charger lol. We were looking at a Model Y, but with no consistent way to charge it, looks like we'll skip that & go straight to the truck in a couple years! What's the long-term review so far?

So far it's been a great car to own. In fact my wife like it so much that it's no her car and I got a Model 3 for myself. The biggest issues so far are it has more road noise than I like and the estimated mileage has gone done a fair amount. We started at around 308 miles on a full charge, 280 at 80%. Now it's at 265 full charge and around 240 at 80%. This translates into not being able to go as far between charges on road trips or during the week as initially expected. The Model 3 being a year newer has the benefit of the updated interior and double pane side windows. It has much less road noise compared to the Y and even rides smoother.

Beyond that, we have taken 2-3 trips to Florida and back and another 4 to Ohio and back. That's roughly 7k miles worth of driving out of the 12k it has. Compared to an ICE car, the trips aren't much longer since we typically stop 2-3 times at 30 minutes each to eat, get gas and stretch our legs. The FSD package with nav on auto pilot helps to make the trips much easier. The cargo space is also plenty for our family of three and a dog. We have fully loaded up the frunk/truck and storage under the shelf that rivals what we carried in the GMC Acadia. Also adding a hitch at the beginning of Oct to give us bike capacity or a rack.

Not a big fan of how long it takes to wake up. This is a problem when my wife had previously driven it as often it will not switch to my profile, so I need to squeeze in there to manually switch the profile to get the seat to move back.

Got nails in BOTH front tires over the summer (had to replace both). Luckily I bought certificates at America's Tire after the first one, took care of the second replacement.

Do you have Easy Entry configured on your profiles? It was the first thing we set up before we even left the Dealership on ours. Every time we Enter / Exit the car the wheel goes up, and the seat goes back. When your wife leaves the car, the seat should already be moving into the Easy Entry profile so the next person can get in without trouble.

You should basically never have to manually switch profiles. I've used easy entry from day one and it just works. Very, very rarely it will choose the wrong driver if we're both in the car but we're talking a few times in two years that we've had to manually change it. It generally just works.

It is. Just this morning, car wakes up, switches to my profile, but doesn't change the seat position. I needed to manually select my profile again for it to move. The sleep mode is buggy, never happens if it is plugged in.

Have you test driven one? Highly recommended to do so if you are close to Tesla Store. No words can describe different dimensions.

it also went up $3K since I ordered on 9/12, current EDD is Jan vs original estimate of March. EDD for new orders seems to be very conservative

some items either have a huge backlog or they are prioritizing even small options for profit, for example default wheels are now 20" induction and if you change back to 19" gemini it says august....

Can you give your impressions while driving the Model Y? I plan to buy one soon, I'm thinking between X and Y.

I've driven both. Physically, they're about the same size, but design-wise inside, the X feels much bigger. I like the looks of the 3 better than the Y, but I'd take the Y as a daily drive any day of the week because it's roomier than the 3. The X also has the "cool factor" of the Delorean-style doors, although you pay a premium for it! However, the base Model Y is faster than my Mustang, plus zero lag when accelerating (no shifting), so even the cheapest one you can get is still ridiculously fast lol. If you're going to be carrying adults, the X is nicer; if you're going to be carrying multiple people, the Y can do four people pretty comfortably (or a very small child in the middle, and tiny children in the backseat lol). Sounds like the Austin built Y will be the first with the structural battery pack and 4680 batteries. Hopefully this bodes well for the CT which is maybe out next year.

Supposed to have a visual redesign on the Y too! Curious as to how much of an overhaul that will be!
