In the world of pickups, big sells. Big with lots of gadgets sells even better.
When pickups were utility vehicles, they actually had utility. I could reach over the side of my first 2 F150's to get things out of the bed. Now the goal is to not be able to see into the bed. I guess that prevents people from stealing your lipstick, as that's pretty much all they'll hold.
 
Those fence posts broke surprisingly easy almost like they were 3D printed or something, but yeah that pretty much totaled the truck lol.
 
It's a 3t+ vehicle with 1000HP, of course the wood planks were no match for it, but yea, a transversal splinter can do a lot of damage when pushed in sensitive zones. The thing is not a tank, it has softspots and fortunately, the logs found it!

Edit: Ah, it's a plastic fence?WTF???

imo the AWD Hybrid Maverick is "the" pickup truck to get if you don't need the towing or size of an F-150 or larger vehicle.

I agree, and it's something I'll probably look at when my current truck dies. My F150 has an 8' bed and a lumber rack (not a ladder rack). It's also a super cab, but the small back seat fits my 4' 11" MIL just fine. It's ten years old now and my wife made wash it for the first time in three years, dang thing looks fantastic.

The 8' bed is what I'll miss the most when I finally have to replace my current truck. I can always just get a trailer though. I kinda want an EV, but can't justify the prices, so will probably settle for something like a used SUV. If I wait until the mortgage is paid off I could technically make the payments on a F150 and they do come in 8' box style but that's still a lot of money I could put towards something else.
 
It's like 57k here once you factor taxes etc, it's pretty crazy. That's more money than I take home in a year before living expenses. I sometimes get the bug where I want to go new, but it's very hard to justify, think I will end up sticking to buying used. Might even just get a regular car and get a tow hitch installed. Even a basic car can usually pull a little over 1000 lbs. I kind of like the ground clearance a truck provides though, but the main road to my off grid property is not super terrible, I could bring a regular car there, and just drive slower. Then hop on the ATV if I want to venture further into other places.

I'm hoping the EV prices come down in the next 4-5 years when my mortgage is paid off then I MIGHT justify buying new, but I don't see that happening unless there's a huge breakthrough in battery tech and they can use minerals that are more common.

That's' right. I forgot you need an EV truck for all the payload you need and all the towing you do. Lets not forget the off roading ALL of us do. You also drive 500 miles a day so yeah.....

All joking aside. I know the Mach-E is a favorite of yours. Have you checked out pricing on used Premium AWD models lately? I'm telling you man right now is the time to buy on some low mileage newer EV models.

The Mach-E is way more practical than your Mustang and prices right now are hard to beat.

Oddly enough, the Ecoboost has a giant trunk lol.

I'd most likely never do off-roading or towing in my situation. Range anxiety is really my only concern. The Lucid has a 410-mile range & supposedly the CT will have a 470-mile option with the battery pack next year...but for $116,000. Sort of loses the appeal for me at that price point LOL.

They seemed to have fixed a lot of the bugs on late-model Mach-E's, but I'm just not interested in them personally. The appeal of the CT was the mega-battery, plus I could outfit the trunk with a Decked system for additional work tools, but the current pricing & lack of available advertised range doesn't make sense for me. Surprisingly, the modern Ford traction system has gotten me through every winter so far!

I'm not in any rush to go electric. My current rental doesn't have any charging infrastructure unfortunately, so I'd be entirely dependent on public stations or client plugs. I just don't want to build my day around having to stop & wait to charge & we all know that the advertised battery ranges don't match up with the real world, haha. Sometimes I'm in the car for 5 or 6 hours depending on the location I'm going to, traffic, weather, etc. & the CT takes 90 minutes for a full charge at a v3 Supercharger. Seems like going backwards to eat up the time in my day charging, pay more than triple the cost, and still be 100 miles less than advertised...
