not really the skin rusting, rather they decided they didn't need to route the water properly and the innards is rusting since the water just sits there.

Add car and driver to the mix. They just released their best EV of the year. They had to put a mention in the article why the cybertruck wasn't even there, well the one they rented broke down on the second day of testing.

Man this conspiracy gets bigger. We need @bbhaag on the case! Please show us where these these publications have gone wrong dear sir!

They haven't sold very many, and the lead time for the AWD model is down to about 2 months. (What happened to the 2M "pre-orders?")
If you have one to sell, presumably you will get destroyed by depreciation.
 
Tesla ranks 24 out of 26 brands in reliability for 5-10 year old used cars. I mean I have no idea why anyone would think this at all, but I'm thinking that the Cyberstuck is gonna bring them down to 27 out of 26 by next year

amen to that. I only bought one Yeti on sale. I wanted an RITC some years back but got a better deal on a 65Q Lifetime. I know it's not roto-molded but it works well. The roto molded Yeti has so much less room inside due to those walls being insanely thick. I know it makes it last cooler for longer, but for a big weekend camping trip, I'll take more space and have to get ice one xtra time.

also I saw a video of the Tesla Cooler and it can barely hold anything. The tent is a shit show. Tesla is selling a brand to cultists at this point, not quality.

My guess is:

1. It's a nerd car
2. A lot of nerds are probably zillionaires from bitcoin
3. So they can collect Tesla gear like Pokemon, as the price doesn't matter

I missed the bitcoin boat, so no meme car for me 🙁

CT should not be conflated with their volume sellers, the Y and 3. IIRC the Model Y recently surpassed the Corolla as the world's best selling car (for a month). So I'd argue the "brand" is doing fine. The reason their growth has evaporated is complex and we're familiar with the main reasons:

  • China is highly competitive and consumers there are increasingly tilting towards home-grown brands (price matters, as does nationalism)
  • Elon's politics are highly offensive to his traditional left coast customers
  • BEVs are actually doing well around the world, but are facing headwinds in the U.S. as somehow it's become too "woke" for red state consumers
  • Most of their car models are dated, as they don't follow industry norms of complete redesigns roughly every 7 years. They claim continuous improvements but we know this is mostly a lie.

It's hard to not characterize the CT as a bust so far, but we should remember this is just year 1. IF they figure out how to profitably produce them en masse, and IF they lower prices to be competitive, is there a market where they could sell 250k units per year?* That's a lot of IFs, and we really don't know the answer to that question. But the working assumption of 4 years ago that they could sell 400k+ of these things annually (after production scales up) appears to be a pipe dream.

Considering how many Ford and Chevy trucks are sold in the U.S., 250k in annual sales would be considered just a modest success at best.

* IF all that does happen, will your wife sign off on you buying a used CT in four years? 😛
 
There is still plenty of stuff to do around here during winter due to the density, but still, there will be much more indoor downtime. The wank tank hasn't really been out in numbers over a winter yet. Looking forward to the entertainment during said downtime of all the ways winter will help the cyber dump get cyber stuck and all the other defects come out to play.
