Sometimes you just need a basic full size pickup truck. My Dad has a basic 1990's F250 Super Duty. Everything is manual on the truck, doesn't even had power locks. However if you need to go pickup twenty 50'x6' chain-link fence rolls from a good deal on Facebook Marketplace, it does the job. A truck meant to do things and not just show off.

Yeah I have some friends who do it with various ICE & EV vehicles. Nice way to make some nearly passive income, if you're in a good market for renting your ride out!
 
I saw a video of a CT driving around and they were videoing it at people's reactions on the street, both from in the car and from points of view on the sidewalk. No marketing video. That's when I realized when I saw the CT driving straight at the camera, it could actually be just as ugly from the front as the back. Previously I had thought from photos the rear was horrific and the front was passable. I think most shots of the CT I've seen of the front area always at an angle. It looks so bad straight on. Now, both the front and back are equally goddamn terribly ugly.

Especially after finally seeing a Rivian up close walking by it the other week, I'm like holy shit, this is what different design is supposed to come out like. Actually sleek and attractive.

My ex lived carless in my neighborhood for ten years. It's not that hard. Maybe not quite as easy as many parts of NYC, but not hard and leans towards easy overall.

When she needed a car she started using services like this. Like to go to band practice in the burbs, or say to a hike.

Having the option to live car free is pretty great for many people. These services make a ton of sense.

I was just in Manhattan & yea, everything is right there...take the subway anywhere you want, a million things to do, places to eat at, etc. Having a car would be a hassle there!

It's just another headache of a modern life in a city. I've seen car owners around me have to worry about so many things (it's not just the upkeep of the car. There are various govt requirements to fulfill and failing to comply is met with heavy fines). Then I also see them doing crazy stuff like keeping track of places where there is no parking meter or getting up early in the morning to get their car out of some parking space where ticketing starts at some early hour and then move it to some other parking space, usually far away from their residential building. Stuff like that would drive me nuts. Owning a car in a congested city is no fun.

There are a number of cities throughout the US where you could easily live car-free or car-light. People just lack imagination and are stuck with car-brain.

I can handle about half a day of it tbh lol. My ADHD gets overstimulated around that much stuff & that many people!
