Ha ha ha ha.

WTF?
Only another 6,500?

I guess if someone is going to spend 70-100k
for that ugly ass truck, what's another 6500?
I assume that's basically vinyl wrap and from what I've read that only lasts a few years.

Also WTF is up with Tesla only offering a few colors? They charge extra for everything except gray and they are all custom ordered. I assume they still batch by color, but Toyota figured out how to not batch by color a couple decades ago, I'd think the secret would be out.

I'm surprised that's allowed. Like, a rearview mirror is just a cost for the cabin. It's not like sideview mirrors where going to cameras could improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency
I'm guessing it's because of the bed cover. A mirror couldn't see through that.
There was a pickup that had 4 wheel steering years back, I forget who offered it. I only ever saw one on the road.
The question is why bother with it? Added complexity and cost for what benefit?
Hopefully so pickup drivers can actually park their land barges in one parking spot.

After the crash test video I want to know what it'll do in an accident. In the video the aft tires turned so the butt would've swung out into traffic. Those wheels should be locked out when going 35.
I have to question the logic of buying a huge vehicle if you live in a place where maneuvering it is an obstacle.
I'm staying in downtown San Antonio right now, I'll be happy to send you a picture of all the pretty trucks taking up two spots in the garage, many of them rentals (because you know someone might question your manhood if they see you driving a rental car).

it’s going to grow on people. Elon wasn’t kidding when he said it looks straight out of sci-fi movie.

The design grew on me, haha! I like it because:

1. I grew up loving the Delorean from BTTF, so I think the Stainless Steel exterior is cool

2. I like weird cars; Tesla really went left-field with this & I love them for that lol. I think it's ugly, but in a cool way! I do miss the OG design tho.

3. I like all of the unique ideas: Rolling bed cover. Giant flat headlights. Crazy steering system with rear turning wheels. Toolbox battery add-on. 48V subsystem. No rearview mirror. etc.

4. The option with 470 miles total is no joke. I'm not like, $96,000 interested (the monthly payment would be more than my rent LOL) but props to them for getting close!

5. Zero to 60 in 2.6 seconds on 35" tires is hilariously NUTS!

I need to see one in person & test-drive it before I make a final decision. Keeping my reservation in line. I reserved late so I'm like the zillionth in que lol.

I live in the south, trucks are extremely popular around here. I often drive by $75k homes with a $90k truck in the driveway.
For most of my life a truck was an absolute necessity. Now that I've retired I find that I enjoy driving my nine year old work truck far more than my wife's three year old loaded Escape. I can't tell you why that is, because I don't really know why.

Whoa, that’s a lot of overlooked stuff for a company that I was assured doesn’t overlook things.

Some good discussion in the nested comments:

From what I can tell:

1. These were the RC units, not final production
2. No recovery points to attach to (guessing the finals will have this)
3. Wrong tires for the conditions
4. Tires weren't deflated
5. Electric motor provides instant power, making it difficult to ease into a roll (I'd imagine they'll have a creep/crawl mode in a software update)
6. No traction aids (traction tracks etc.)
7. More difficult to do gear-shift rocking of forward & reverse (gear shift is a touchscreen on the inside rooftop of the windshield)
8. Really have with a low center-of-gravity (6,000 to just below 7,000 pounds, depending on how it's configured, plus the weight of the human bodies inside)

The officially listed max ground clearance in Extract Mode is 17.44", which is pretty cool for getting un-stuck in deep conditions, but this was snow & ice, with no chains on the tires or anything.

This coming from a guy who believes YT click bait and Twitter posts.......got it.
Your own article had the Plaid braking 100 ft longer. Also you left out all the bits where they talked about the brakes sucking.

"Another reason to fear a 200-mph speed is brakes that got soft during our testing. Although our braking regimen isn't nearly as severe as what a racetrack demands, a warning message reporting the brakes' demise popped up on the dash. Between the flappability at high speeds and the iffy brakes, our helmets are way off to former FIA GT racing driver Andreas Simonsen, who piloted the Plaid to what must have been a harrowing 7:35 Nürburgring lap."

Whoa, soft brakes -- that sounds a lot like brake fade. Honestly are you even trying here?

Come on guys. I think both of you can agree on the Cybertruck being a terrible vehicle. As can everyone. It's something you two share common ground on. Embrace your similarities, not your differences.
I don't know if it's terrible. I've never driven one, sat in one, or even seen one. Why would I judge something before I've gotten the chance to experience it IRL?

I wonder if they can harness the power of Cybertruck hate like they did in Monsters Inc...you just KNOW that if you get one, you're going to get daily comments about how ugly people think it is LOL

I get comments every time I take my Mustang out and most of them are not positive.

Somehow this fucking thing gets a pass but god forbid you drive a Mustang powered by electricity and has.....gasp....4 doors.🙄

Nothing wrong with four doors but everything is wrong with crossovers.

Deep down inside you know. You know.
I know it's about as bad as an R8. Cooling issues, bearing issues, and don't get me started on that interior. I've never driven one, sat in one, or even seen one but I just know how bad the R8 is........🙄

Electric motors should provide a ton of throttling ability since the torque is proportional to the amperage. Probably an issue with the swing/mapping of the throttle pedal rather than the motor itself.
