Just.....wow......not only is its straight line performance incredible but its ability to do it consecutively on back to back to back, ect runs is even more impressive IMO. Even charged to 100% my Mach-E falls flat on it's face after just a couple of spirited runs due to poor thermal management of the batteries.

I can't wait to see how the CT performs off road. It's not like Tesla to engineer a truck from the ground up and then say "Oops we forgot about off roading performance".

Haha, what? It is exactly like Tesla to sell something stupid for marketing purposes and forget about critical features. Like the $10000 FSD package that still doesn’t work half a decade later. Or the Model S Plaid that can rocket to 150 with inadequate brakes that barely bring it to a stop once before fading because that doesn’t sell cars.

Yes, literally any car allowed to be sold in the US can stop itself from a high rate of speed once. Those other cars will do it more than once because they’re designed as a total package.

Yeah I'm sure it's pretty bad. When a EV does something bad it rarely makes the news so if 2021 Model S Plaid owners were crashing their vehicles into walls because of failing breaks we would probably never hear.........wait what?

Fading undersized brakes, not failing brakes, as linked in the article. Just an example of cutting corners because I got a huge kick out of your comment that Tesla is totally not the kind of company to underengineer and totally forget about things. I mean they are the poster child of half-baked lol. But yeah I'm sure off roading performance will be just great*** because they'd never overlook it.

I'm curious how a 6,000-pound truck will do offroad. Especially when it gets stuck LOL.

A few years ago, I said I didn't think we'd see a fully-valid FSD package for like, at least 10 years. I think AI will help accelerate that. But I do think its nuts to ONLY have cameras as the Tesla system. I was just talking to my buddy who has a Model Y today & has a 2-hour commute. He said so far, the FSD system almost ran over a truck tire in the middle of the road, as well as a dead buck in the middle of the road, because it didn't detect either of them, which could have been fatal for my buddy to hit those at highway speeds before he intervened on both! I really think they need to add a LIDAR system imo.

tbh, I'm perfectly happy with my wife's Eyesight system in her Forester. It has active lane-centering coupled with traffic-aware cruise control. For generic highway use, it works awesome. Such a huge stress relief for long road trips! Not perfect (it flakes out on tight curves, for example) & doesn't work at all in the city, but for highway & traffic, it's super awesome!

Not sure if serious. My Chevy work truck has a listed curb weight of 6736 lbs. With tool box and ass, it's over 7,000 lbs. Getting it unstuck just takes a hi-lift jack, lots of rocks, and lots and lots of time. One has to factor how long the job will take and multiply by three to allow time for cussing.

another truck with a recovery strap helps. 😉

I agree with you 100%. I work in this area and have also been saying for a long time that there is no Tesla secret sauce. State of the art SLAM and object detection in images and video are what they are and current iterations will not work together to create a fully deployable FSD system that doesn’t kill people. We are getting closer but I LOLd every time he said “ready by 2019” … “ready by 2020” … “ready by 2023” …

Just classic clueless upper management making promises out of his ass and meanwhile the engineers doing the real work are thinking WTF is this idiot talking about, and why is he only giving us cameras.

Your own article says the Plaid's stopping distance was 100 feet longer. So the Tesla won due to acceleration, not braking.

Ok......what did the article I posted say about brake fade because that's wtf we were talking about.

Since you brought it up the article also mentioned that the MS they tested didn't come with the optional Track package either just the base brakes and tires found on a MS Plaid and guess what? After multiple passes no fading, failure, or fires.
