Seems like a match made.... well... somewhere, and it's not heaven. They deserve each other. A horrible franchise with a recent history of stupid draft picks and a guy who constantly makes stupid choices.

3rd round??

Well honestly I can see why they picked him. I understand he ran a really fast 40 time so that's pretty much all you need for Al Davis to pick you.

I thought he would go in the 4th round at the highest, but whatever.

I guess the Raiders need a tall wide receiver?

How much are they paying him? He hasn't signed a contract yet.

I'm assuming he means that a 3rd round pick in 2012 draft was too much to give up for him. With the supplemental draft you "bid" with the next years draft pick. So since they bid a 3rd rounder for him, they lose their 3rd round pick in 2012.

comparisons to JaMarcus Russell are idiotic. The Raiders dumped 30+ million into Russel - Pryor will cost them between 2 and 2.5 M.

While I'm not predicting he becomes an all-pro QB - this is basically a 6-6 version, and a right-handed, Mike Vick when he came out of college - and he's had far more QB experience at the college level than Vick had.

Granted - it took Vick quite some time to have a season like he had last year as a passer - but remember he took a pretty average Atl team pretty far in the playoffs a few times and was far from a polished passer.

The guy has made some really stupid moves off the field - but if you take all of that away, you've got arguably as fine an athlete as we've ever seen at the position - certainly worth a supplemental draft pick.

And - as a few of you pointed out - he can always play WR in a pinch.

Let's see....Pryor was never very accurate at Ohio State, so what makes anyone think he'll improve in the NFL?

And as for a wide receiver......sure, he runs a straight line quick, but his shuttle run times were not impressive in the least. And, outside of a deep threat only WR, he won't be able to shake anyone off his hip as he's not exactly nimble and elusive.

But it's Al Davis.......what'd you expect? He couldn't wait another round and drop his price. Guess that 40 speed is all Al needed.....

"Let's see....Pryor was never very accurate at Ohio State, so what makes anyone think he'll improve in the NFL?"

His career completion percentage was 62% - 65% in his third season.

Jake Locker in college = 53.4%
Cam Newton 1 season = 66%
Christian Ponder = 62%

Again, I'm not expecting him to become an all-pro QB, but let's not make stuff up either. If you are a D1 QB, and you are over 60%, you are doing something right.

LOL, today I had lunch with some Michigan grad.

"Pryor was a shitty QB in college, not even in the same league as Denard Robinson"

I just laughed and said:
31-4 record as a starter in 3 years (88.57% winning percentage).
3 Big 10 titles (one vacated of course :)) in 3 years.
3 victories over Michigan in 3 years.
Denard is very talented, but jeez, get real.

Yep, he pretty much sucked :D

The Raiders of course! The place where many over-hyped players go to end their careers after scoring a huge payday.

That's pretty cheap. The only thing is that 3rd round pick. I think they were/are already short on draft picks in 2012 and now this. The thing is, if they are going to want him as a QB, he'll do nothing for the first year at least b/c he's out 5 games with suspension. Oh well, Raiders stink and their fans are the worst.....and I live in the Bay Area. I would never take my kid to a Raiders game.

I live in the bay area too, and would never take myself to another Raiders or Niners game :D. I've lived here for 31 years, and have been to about 20 49ers games, but the crowds just seem to have gotten more obnoxious as the years have gone by. Last game I want to at Candlestick was 7 years ago, and I thought I was going to get mugged in the parking lot :).

Anyway, back on topic.

I'm actually surprised TP got that much, as many people thought he was more of the 5th round quality player.

The Raiders will get some picks for losing all the studs they did. And I thought that most people (ESPN,NFL network) has liked the raiders drafts the last couple years. You all sound like the usual "know it all" fans that have your minds made up before any moves are done.

well, that could turn out to be a huge bargain for the Raiders.

...let's just wait and see how they choose to misuse him.

Indeed. Depending on how he is used, and if he is mature enough now to accept whatever roll they think he can fill.
