You mispelled "Terra" twice while the link clearly says "Tera"?
I see this a lot on the FF XIV beta forums too... Its like every FF fan thinks of Terra the FF6 character or something (whose original Japanese name is actually Tina, ironically)
The game is called TERA because it is an acronym for The Exiled Realm of Arborea
I think most people dont even know this, sadly
Anyway, its a nice game for a couple months if you enjoy the combat, and especially soloing BAMs... For me the fun was in leveling a bunch of classes to 60, but since the game has almost no end game content/extremely slow updates, it gets boring fast
And Im not an endgame player to begin with, leveling for me is much more fun
Its still the best looking MMO too, with some of the best art direction Ive seen (if you didnt reach the level 60 areas like three towers, you are definitely missing out)
So..... I downloaded and tried this game just because of this thread.
Ughhhh not my cup of tea. It's the exact snoozefest grind from level 1. You just fight same 1 or 2 enemy spamming 1 to 2 skills just to gain EXP- over and over.
What a grind from get-go. I uninstalled it at level 5. This is why I dislike MMOs- the game tries to do so much that it's very simple and basic at lower levels.
I like Diablo clones better- far more action-oriented, similar EXP & skill leveling but far more fun minus all that crafting and static world boredom.
Vivi, have you tried Path of Exile? Amazing game and it's what you may be looking for- great party game with far better action/skills. PoE is dubbed as the true Diablo 3. F2P that's not pay-2-win.
Look at the insane action! MMO can never do this:

AT's very own PoE thread.
No offense, but you can't judge an MMO, especially its combat that quickly. Most are set up to unlock more technique and systems later on instead of overwhelming a player right from the get go.
It's fair to say MMOs in general are very VERY grindy.
What I just experienced is not unique to TERA. It's way too simple early- 1 type of enemy, spam 1 attack, gain EXP. This requires near zero skill. You're just exchanging numbers, ugh. This stays like this for near-forever.
At least in ARPG, it's similar concept but more spells and gameplay dynamics are varied far earlier. And because the world isn't so huge, the map content is far more 'concentrated' therefore more fun and adventurous. MMOs world may look pretty, but gameplay wise, they're just have 1-3 type of same enemy per 1 area and repeat.
I'm aware MMOs have their perks- static world, big guild experience, economy, etc... Those are just not for me.
I really liked Tera, I got up to 49 before the grindy leveling system wore me down into submission. I bought it at launch and so I noticed that by the time I reached level 35 suddenly I wasn't seeing that many people running around the levels anymore. Not sure if I was out-leveling everyone (doubtful) or if my server population was just getting low (likely). But the zones felt empty, it was hard to find pug's to fight the BAM's... and so many of the quests require you to do that to progress. But that wasn't the only problem, the leveling system in general is God awful. I didn't read any of the text, it was just brutal.
I have no doubt that at max level and with a dedicated guild that this game could be fun for the combat alone. Running around killing BAM's and world bosses I am certain could be very fun with the right group. I played Warrior and I really loved the evasion tank game play. Playing as DPS though was mostly so-so, I don't think I could have made it to even level 20 with any of the other classes. Tera does have some really impressively tense and fun fights, I might try to go back and see if I can get to max level just to see what the end-game is all about.
I liked a lot of things about Tera. Good graphics and art (except females...), solid combat, good feel overall. But I get bored of MMOs pretty quickly, and Tera was no different. Each zone has the same quests over and over, and the monsters themselves are usually just re-skinned monsters from other zones.
