After a reading a whole bunch about scanners I finally felt this one would suite my needs...
[*]USB 2 Connection (gotta be USB these days!)
[*]USB powered- convenient
[*]Low power LEDs avoid image problems that may affect high-power lighted units that can't get enough power from the USB cable
[*]LEDs don't need time to "warm up"
[*]LEDs won't burn out
[*]one-touch buttons for copying & faxing
[*]No complaints about software bugs or poor construction like i've seen on other models
[*]can scan sideways (if you're short of space I guess)
[*]if anyone can make a decent quality scanner, it ought to be Canon, right?
[*]THE PRICE ... ! The only cheaper ones I've seen are "iffy" models with mail in rebates

Did I mention I'm a fan of LEDs? I think my Okidata 6e laser printer is pretty slick. Anyways I thought I'd share, mine's on order
