The hells, water is falling from the sky here in San Diego! What is this!?!?! this is unnatural.

Well, this abberation of witchcraft that has befallen my city hasn't detered me to VOTE.

This is my 2nd time voting, and I must say, it was very pleasant. Everyone was cheerful and full of jokes. We had a very very diverse (age and race) turnout in my local polling place. No one talked politics, but everyone was just in very good spirits and joking around. It was a very nice sight to see, and just made me glad that I live in this nation. It made the 40min wait time for me feel like 10.

In San Diego, the entire prop 8 has been very emotional for everyone. Every street corner I saw people propping up signs, "yes on 8!!!" "no on 8!!."

This was actually the proposition that brought people to the polls here in California. California, there is no real point to vote for a president, because a Dem candidate will always get it. So for us, the big issue here was 8, and amongst other things. K, I'm veering off topic...

I made sure that was well educated on the local measures and I am very satisfied with my choices. Whoever and whatever wins, I hope will shape our future for the better regardless of opinions.

Anyways... My controversial statement of the day: It does feel like that a real democracy is not freedom. A democracy takes freedom away from the minorities. :p

I hope everyone had a pleasant experience, and for one day, we can all just be glad we are all in this together, and appreciate each other as Americans. Respect one another no matter of what opinion they may hold, for I always buy a fellow American a beer whenever I am away overseas for work (when I see one, and well the locals too :p).

(I work for Naval research on research vessels and travel the world...I am proud of my work as a citizen. I am proud to represent us as a whole in my travels with hard work, good science, and beers!)

It was nice in Minnesota. A bit nippy in the morning when I was actually standing in line, but beautifully clear and in the low 50s. Now the temps are upper 50s/lower 60s but cloudy. It might rain this evening.

I waited in line for an hour and a half here in Minneapolis.

It didn't rain so that was good. Didn't have to wait in line at all. I guess everyone here voted early.

I parked my car right out front, I walked in, I showed my ID, I filled in some circles, I put my card into the machine, I walked out.

Registered Democrat, I get my absentee ballot one month ahead of actual election day, I take my time googling the issues and candidates, I mail the ballot out a week before the election.

Prop 8 proponents make me sick, they deserve zero respect.

Yeah, I was confused when I walked outside today and it was raining. What black magic is this? Isn't this why we live here? At least my car is getting a wash. I had to wait all of zero minutes at the polling place though, which is at a mortuary 2 doors down from my apartment. I think that's because nobody in Ocean Beach is awake at 7AM other than me.

haha, time to hijack my own thread... I love Ocean Beach. Mom-pop shops everywhere. People there work hard to get other people's business. It's non of that chain-store BS employees where they look forward to their hourly-funded paycheck (as in, whocares about working, the longer i work here today, the more I get paid! So I'll be lazy today!)

Anyways, Sunshine Company and their happy hour is my favorite place to go for beers.

I try to go to the farmers market there as much as I can. I love OB too. I'll be voting later on this afternoon.

Relatively quiet in silicon valley where I voted.

A somewhat long line of people, maybe 30-40. Took about 45-50 minutes to get through, ridiculously slow. They need to create an express line or something at the polling place for people who are prepared. How it took anyone who isn't 90 more than a couple of minutes to fill out their ballot is beyond me. I was in and out of the "booth" in about 60 seconds (about 20 choices). Read the thing and make your decisions before you go in people!

Ya! man, I didn't know there were a bunch of AT'ers in SD chilling @ OB. Awesome.

EDIT:

And definitely quikah .. people should be prepared, and not go in and wing it. There's much to be read upon, and in this day and age, I expect people to be literate and well educated enough to vote quickly when the day comes.

Yeah, I live about 3 blocks from the shine. I probably make it to happy hour at least once a week. Especially during the summer, considering how much I drink, we've probably bumped elbows once or twice. hahaha.

Why do prop 8 proponents make you sick? Does prop 8 say that gays should be shot?
Are you gay?

As problem free as possible. Parked in front of the door, walked in, said my name, recieved ballot, filled out ballot, put ballot in box, went and ate pizza. Sometimes living in the middle of nowhere has its perks.

Walked to the polling station. Saw line around the block. Left for work. Did not vote.

Did segregation say black people should be shot? No. Am I black? No. Is the idea of segregation sickening? Yeap.

I think people who back prop 8 disgrace our country's principles.

Today was my first time voting. I waited about 45 minutes in line (Penn State, only one place on the entire campus to vote at) but it wasn't too bad. I wish I had gotten an absentee ballot, but not so much because of the lines - I would have liked to vote on my state's issues rather than Pennsylvania's.

When to the polls on my lunch break, walked in, filled out a form, got my ballot, voted, fed the machine, and then I when home.

I love living in a small town.

Segregation? Wow. I consider myself to be very liberal but I'd only support marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

That's fine with me, support it however you want. However, who honestly gives a fuck about what other people want to do, as long as they're not hurting anyone? I'll never understand busybody social conservatives.

It was pretty ugly yesterday at a street corner by my house with the pro and anti prop 8 people. Of course, all the yes on 8 people brought their kids along to hold signs because obviously we don't think of the children enough when we vote.

You may be "very liberal" but you're a bigot, plain and simple, just like you would be if you thought marriage should be between a white and a white or a black and a black, but not a black and a white. Discrimination is discrimination and you're a disgrace to a free society.

There were hundreds of people when I went at 7am. I ended up going back at 3pm and there were maybe 40. I signed up to vote at a drive, and apparently they screwed up quite a few applications. It was hectic, with people very upset about not getting properly registered.

Some of the old ladies running the place weren't very friendly. :p

In the end, I got to vote along with one other failed registree. No sticker though. :(

Went down to local VFW one of only two people there to vote, signed in (didn't have to show a DL or anything), they had the opportunity to use a paper ballot or electronic. I chose electronic, it worked perfectly. Was in and out in about 5 minutes.
