The hells, water is falling from the sky here in San Diego! What is this!?!?! this is unnatural.
Well, this abberation of witchcraft that has befallen my city hasn't detered me to VOTE.
This is my 2nd time voting, and I must say, it was very pleasant. Everyone was cheerful and full of jokes. We had a very very diverse (age and race) turnout in my local polling place. No one talked politics, but everyone was just in very good spirits and joking around. It was a very nice sight to see, and just made me glad that I live in this nation. It made the 40min wait time for me feel like 10.
In San Diego, the entire prop 8 has been very emotional for everyone. Every street corner I saw people propping up signs, "yes on 8!!!" "no on 8!!."
This was actually the proposition that brought people to the polls here in California. California, there is no real point to vote for a president, because a Dem candidate will always get it. So for us, the big issue here was 8, and amongst other things. K, I'm veering off topic...
I made sure that was well educated on the local measures and I am very satisfied with my choices. Whoever and whatever wins, I hope will shape our future for the better regardless of opinions.
Anyways... My controversial statement of the day: It does feel like that a real democracy is not freedom. A democracy takes freedom away from the minorities.
I hope everyone had a pleasant experience, and for one day, we can all just be glad we are all in this together, and appreciate each other as Americans. Respect one another no matter of what opinion they may hold, for I always buy a fellow American a beer whenever I am away overseas for work (when I see one, and well the locals too
).
(I work for Naval research on research vessels and travel the world...I am proud of my work as a citizen. I am proud to represent us as a whole in my travels with hard work, good science, and beers!)
