Do you have a particular trade that you're being hired for?

I am a union pipefitter/welder. Our international office currently has an open call for men.

Nice ... I take it you're thinking of heading up for a limited period of time to rake in some cash before heading home? I received an email today from a former supervisor of mine here at the pulp mill. He's around 50, and his wife retired a few years ago. He headed to a company called InCana (I think that is it anyway) in Fort MacMurray, and got a $140000 signing bonus (Canadian funds of course). His wife is still having to un-retire to help defray the costs of their $450,000 house

Of course, housing costs in my town are significantly lower, but still ...

Several of the guys I used to play basketball with grew up in Fort Mac ... so if you have any specific questions I can always ask them. Their parents still live there, and I know a couple of them are looking forward to selling in a few years to retire.
