I ended up getting the doctors night guard for $20. You boil it then let it cool a bit. Then you bite down and after a few other steps, it firms up to the shape of your teeth.

Been using it since Friday night and overall it seem ok.

My jaw seems to not hurt as much in the mornings now.

I have a NTI night guard that was custom fitted at the dentist several years ago. It's much smaller than others, as it only fits over your front teeth, but it keeps your mouth from closing all the way (preventing grinding and compression). It's a bit annoying but works really well.

Nice job on not screwing up the moulding!

I used a perforated ladle to hold the thing in the boiling water - it stuck. I practically wrote the $45 POS off, then read the instructions and found out you can just mush it back into place, and redo it.

Oh I did have to redo it one time.

First try was a failure but second time came out pretty good.

Do you like it? Thinking about buying one to replace my expensive doctor "prescribed" mouth guard

It's kind of soft and I don't know how long it'll hold up with my intense attempts at grinding while I sleep but so far it's good for the $20 it cost.

Can't really say long term wise how worth it it'll be though.

I even had one made from a dentist.

If you cant use these, then you are hopeless. In the 20 or years of my teeth grinding, i have had two of these. They last forever, and are comfortable as hell. For the nighttime teeth grinding there is nothing better.

The bottom is harder while the top is soft. I clamp my teeth more than grind, but I've definitely left a lot of impressions on the hard surface.
