Am I crazy, or is Florida kind of a shithole? Never been there myself, but if Tampa Bay makes the NHL finals we were thinking of heading down for a game, but not if all of the state is messd up as it sounds.

Florida is pretty crazy, yes. It's not all bad, and there is a wide, wide diversity of the type of people that live there.

My dad is in Jacksonville and while it certianly has its fair share of Floridian nutters, there is a comfortable amount of "normal" there. Probably helps that they have a Mayo clinic, I don't know.

Still, I'd never want to live anywhere in Florida. I've been away from the east coast for almost 8 years now and if I ever intend to re-adjust to that kind of humidity, I will be doing it at home--NC.

also, Heller and Alkymest live there. so....

And so does Jeebus, and he seems like a rational, stand-up guy. so there you go--the full Florida spectrum right here on ATOT. 🙂

Would you seriously not visit some place due to fear of criminal behavior? Sure the murder rate in FL is 4 times as high as it is in Ontario, but it's still only 6 out of 100,000, and the vast majority of murder is not random.

Boy the effectiveness of news today is making everyone feel like they live in some kind of war zone. The odds of anything you see on the news today happening to you is so small that it's not even worth thinking about. Carry a gun.
 
Nah, it's not me, I walk around anywhere and am not really concerned, but the person I would be going with is a bit of a fraidy cat, so that's where the concern is coming from. I mean we were just in San Francisco and she wanted to take a cab to the Giants game when we were only about a 10 minute walk away. I took her to dinner in the red light district and she was kind of freaking, even though it was a very nice restaurant. So yeah.

I would be kind of scared of running into Alky though...yikes.

Is it just a coincidence that they're white and not a single person posted "my suspicions were right, before I even clicked on the story I knew who did this" 4 pages and nobody uttered it? Since every murder thread has at least 5 of those people it leads to me believe that they're all in fact full of shit and click on the story before they say something about their "suspicions" and how they're 10/10 when it comes to these stories and their intuitions
