I'd have turned it in in a heartbeat. However, I'm not so sure I would have trusted my manager. 😉

As for the reward, I would have done the customary thing of declining and if they further insisted, graciously accepting.

Yeah, they need more people who will do this in the world.

If the person offers a reward though, I might just take it. If they don't, no big deal.

That's too much money to not give back, honestly. I'd give it back without thinking twice...

And I give him credit for not wanting a reward either. There's no reason the lady should pay him for doing the right thing, and I'm glad he realized that.

She's not "paying him" for doing the right thing. She's giving a gift to someone who was nice to her. I can understand people saying they wouldn't keep it, but to say you would turn down any reward is kinda silly.

😕

Returning the money: good deed.

Not accepting the reward: retarded.

Not necessarily. Many times I find something and return it to the rightful owner and when that isn't possible and it winds up in lost and found and the owner wishes to reward me I decline. Not quite $24k but a gentleman's gold submariner is close. 😉

Just put yourself in the person's shoes that lost it. Granted carrying a large amount of cash around isn't exactly what I would call smart, but nonetheless it happened and the outcome could have been bad. I love to hear stories like this. This just shows there are still good people out there. 🙂

If it was like 100$, I probably would have kept it, but 24k$... I would be afraid that it had some history and would get it to the manager to deal with.

I used to work in a theater....And there is no way anybody would know that you picked it up while picking up popcorn and spilled soda.
