This thread makes me want to go dig up a Number Nine Revolution card, reinstall it, and call life good.

I disagree - he showed HIS SIDE of getting rightfully punished for threadcrapping, of which he did plenty of.
He didn't show what happened to the trolls because he doesn't have access to their accounts, because it would disprove his "waah only me gets banned because i AMD" point, and because most of the time they were right and he was wrong.

Also, "butthurt" is quite a common term on the internet, should you want to familiarise yourself with our language.

I'm quite familiar with internet bandwagon terms. I stand by my statement. It is your choice to be a follower.

He doesn't need access to the accounts, since the moderators make comments in bolded letters when moderation is taken. His evidence stands.

Also, as stated, "threadcrapping" is something so broad that it could literally mean anything that anyone wants it to mean. He has shown with evidence that even when copying words verbatim, moderation is not evenhanded.

At least in my experience, users that flagrantly post garbage tend to be on a very short leash. So, when you ask why one of those users tends to get harsher reactions than a user that tends to contribute, that's probably the reason why. Honestly, there are certain users in forums like VC&G whose posts I never read. They rarely ever post anything useful, and their posts end up causing arguments. They ought to get special titles: "Spawn of Galego"!

I cannot post my contradictory examples because that would mean specifically calling out names of people here. My experiences have been compleeeetely the opposite.

i went back to skim the page - i can't fathom how long it took him to put that shit together. srsly, dude must have issues.

Same could be said for lots of hobbies. Look at how much time people waste creating replicas of things in Minecraft for example. If someone is passionate about something, what is the harm(in these kind of cases at least). What is the point of investigating anything?

I'm ok with the mods flexing on trolls trying to cause problems. He's cherry picking his "evidence", that much is obvious.

1. "Troll" means nothing on the internet. Anyone could claim anyone is a "troll" simply for disliking their opinion and there is nothign you could say to contradict it.

2. Cherry picking? Giving 13 pages of examples of all sorts, while showing that almost verbatim comments weren't treated the same way...Followed by showing that moderators here chose to ignore a thread/response for over 3 months in the moderator forums here. Hell, even when people ADMITTED doing something wrong, including moderators, nothing was done.

Look at the Idontcare(or some name like that)'s post, saying that his car analogy didn't have a purpose of actually staying on topic, but instead was to bait people into responding, just so that they could get violations. That is about 3 different violations of the moderator's own policies right there and nothing happened.

It isn't cherry picking when a behavior is shown repeatably and in tons of different ways, over a ton of time. It just isn't how things work.

This keeps getting more pathetic...

corrupt_biased_anandtech_markfw10.png

Page 7 is also great. So, so sad.

The worst moderated forum on the internet, imo, is mmorpg.com. That being said, it seems like moderators are just sad, little, powerless people, who get off on what little power they've been given. If nothing is done after such damning evidence, it just proves even more so how corrupt the environment is for mods here.

You cannot be seriously convinced by that article... lol. What is your PERSONAL experience with the mods here? Anything like that at all?
The amount of butthurt as people said.

He is leaving out some parts of the story. He really did not handle his infractions well. Everything he says tries to come across as a sort of underhanded jab at the mods. If they crackdown on language he finds a different way. Whines and moans. They crackdown on callouts he finds another way, trolling on PM, whines and moans. They permaban him, he makes his own website.

Its ridiculous.

He seemed pretty proud to waste 4 hours of a mods time. Its so petty. Most forums from the get-go have a no moderator callout threads. He called out like 7 moderators. Its impressive he wasn't banned quicker. I think they were actually fairly tolerant, I guess because of his postcount and whatnot.

The same way the highway is optimized for a Lamborghini diablo, how else can you explain the discrepancy between the diablo's top speed and that of my Prius?

Clearly it is the road, made by those damned biased prejudicial road engineers and construction workers, on the take from Lamborghini of course.

The way I read this, it isn't a bool - it doesn't have to be made to think, OR made to troll. His post is satirical. (click my link on the quote to go to the original thread for some context) What he did was point out the idea that fritz should be ignored because it's optimized for intel is as silly as saying a highway is optimized for a lambo.

His post did not contain swearing or insults. What he got as a response was swearing and insults.

--

Look, I've been on and off AT for 10 years now. I have two infractions, one two years old, one two and a half years old. One for swearing (I called cyperpowerpc something bad) and the other was me calling someone dense in P&N. I didn't agree with the second one, the first one I guess was legit if they don't want swearing. In both cases, I sent a reply to the mod in question. I didn't get anywhere, but I didn't get repeating infractions for it either.

I've created a BUNCH of threads in mod discussions about different things. They've all ended with me getting responses and explanations for why things are happening. I'm not sure I've ever gotten into an actual fight with a mod, and when I do question a mod's actions, I do it over PM or in the mod discussions. One of my first threads in mod discussions was questioning moderation of P&N, about someone who called a view of mine a pile of mouse shit. I traded a few posts with IDC and that was that.

It isn't hard to get along with the mods here. It isn't hard to avoid infractions and bans.

I think the important thing to take away from this is that there are about 5-6 people in VC&G that completely ruin the entire forum for everyone. The thing I have noticed is that the 3 most vehement AMD posters are no longer with us, while the Nvidia trollhards keep coming back after serving short vacations.

That is the most frustrating thing about the VC&G section and the reason I have gotten all my infractions. I can't tolerate the trash that one person in particular spews whenever he comes back from vacation, so I insulted and called him out then reported my own post. I got an infraction after rerporting myself lol.

The Onion could make up for the lack of parody threads here :p
Well, the Angry Mod (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=38&threadid=1714465&enterthread=y) scared the parody'ers off...
no... it was the Change of Culture that did it.

No, I'm not convenient by that article. But honestly being a member for a decade, you would have to be stupid not to notice the pattern of favoritism or something even more. Certain members are banned for relatively minor or stupid things, but other members are allowed to troll and harass members with no consequences. I've seen a members post edited or responded to by mods, time and time again, but they never get banned. You have members that have been caught lying about their lifestyles, what they own, they abuse members, derail threads, troll and constantly start flame wars, yet they never get banned?

Fact of the matter is, this forums is run by humans. They are going to have favoritism and friendships that will affect their authority. You're an idiot if you think differently.

Personally, it seems a lot less active at night so I'd say worse. Of course, the moderators would just say that most of them are worthless neffers, but I think that a bit of spam here and there is nice. Overall it hasn't been that bad though. The Video forum seems to get more and more radical as well, although I'm sure it's unrelated to those two moderator topics.

HBB called it almost 10 years ago :D

Let me get this straight: SiliconWars gets a couple of infractions. Now he is a known offender, be it right or wrong. So then, he decides to "use words vebatim" in his posts to illustrate a point and see if he gets in trouble. He succeeds. He then proceeds to get banned on a weekly basis until he is so angry he writes an expose that will shock the entire internet and come as a surprise to no one but his mom. Now he is going to blow the lid off of this site, again to the surprise of nobody. Amiritesofar?

Whoever said that it is his passion, get real. This website can be deleted from his favorites list with the click of a mouse. He gets angry, he can stop coming here. Last I checked, this wasnt the only website on the internet. Grow up and move the fuck on. Apply this silly angst you have to somethimg useful.

Peace
