As long as the sensor stuff works properly that is fine with me. The less stuff I have to make contact with in a bathroom the better 🙂

In terms of sensors & looping back to the smart-fridge discussion, I am curious to see how Amazon plays their long game. They opened that contactless store of sorts, with cameras & scales for everything...I wonder if, at some point, they'll release their own smart refrigerator that also has Amazon Prime Same-Day Fridge Restock or something like that. iirc Walmart was testing in-kitchen delivery, where the delivery person actually puts all of your food away for you (the part I hate the most about grocery shopping! lol), and especially since they're getting into the meal-kit business, that would potentially be a pretty awesome setup. Like if you are average weekly grocery bill is $125, you could just pay Amazon $500 a month to keep your fridge stocked with weekly deliveries, so that every time you open up your fridge or pantry, it's full of snacks you like & meals that are ready to assemble easily. Dang, that sounds awesome actually, lol.

Autoplay video

Oooooooh my gosh so much this. If I didn't actually use Netflix on a regular basis, I would dump it over literally that specific feature.

At least Youtube has started to remember my "Autoplay OFF" default setting lately.

Software installation program too hands off for it's own good. "Installation fail; no F:/ drive", no option to change installation drive to C:/. My first world problem for today ... sorry.

Inspired by that other thread, what are some technologies we've been blessed with that you don't recall being on your wish list?

Talking gas pumps
You referring to the video they play? Or is this some demonry I've not heard of.

Often there's an array of buttons flanking the display. Unlabeled buttons. One of them will mute the audio assaulting your eardrums. Just hit 'em randomly until the speaker falls silent.

Electronic voting machines without physical paper ballots that can be recounted if necessary.

Who in the hell was clamoring for this?

Cloud based stuff that should not be cloud based. Like phone operating systems, smart home stuff, security cameras, and pretty much any "smart" device that comes out these days. There's absolutely zero reason why any of these things need to be connecting to some central server that is outside your house.

dishwashers

i had one for a few months once in an apartment, but why? i can just wash the dishes by hand faster than a dishwasher, and i do a better job

Seriously. I usually try to stay on top of technology trends, but outside of a Fitbit or whatever thing I have now that I always forget to wear, I've never been able to jump on the smartwatch boat.

The only people I know who use them IRL mostly just use them as a Fitbit anyway, not really for anything else much.

Some of them tie into 2FA setups and thats about the only reason i want one. It would save me entire seconds a day

Gtfo. You can pry my bosch dishwasher from my cold dead hands

Hate dishwashers. To get them to clean right, you have to all but clean the dishes before you pack them in. Might as well just finish the job and be done with it.

If you have a good dishwasher and use decent dish washing detergent, that's not a problem.

If you use the cheap stuff... yeah. You'll get spots and food will stick. Don't do that.
