Just wondering, but why are you running x64 anyway (besides curiosity)? Do you have other apps that need 64 bit computing?

I have Mathematica 5. The app is 32-bit but I have the x64 kernel.

I also write C++ code and wanted to use 64-bits. Most of the modules I create are similar to those we use to crunch. They run for days at a time and use most of the cpu, memory and disks.

arrrgh. That's a horrible waste of a perfectly good crunching computer. :p

It's a different kind of crunching. I do a lot of number theory and write a lot of code to double check my algorithms. Right now I'm working on some patterns in the Goldbach Conjecture.

Ok, another noob question. It makes no difference if you choose background or the client which displays the results? I am assuming the GPU is not helping with those calculations (Even though it would probably tear through them)

I have been using background only but thought I would check to make sure that the cycles on my 7900GS would just have to go to waste.

DPAD doesn't use the GPU, so stick to the background executable. I was stunned this morning when I looked at the points generated overnight. TA is poised to take back OUR spot. GO TA!!!!

p.s... We could use MORE, please. DPAD is a hoot, and really easy to set up. Come play!

I solved the Access Violation problem with muon1.exe. It seems my install (unzip) didn't set up the two sub-folders and the program puked when it couldn't find them.

I've done a complete reinstall and everything is going great. I should show up in the stats soon.

I want to thank Rex Brittain for his assistance with the debugging by running muon1 on XP x86 to provide an example to aim for.

w00t!!

Maybe del Sol will join us from n@H once he/she is done kicking my butt. That would be a HUGE boost.

:) Welcime, [TA]Memnoch, [TA]FLOPS Slingers and [TA]TurtleBlue to DPAD! Crunching is awsome! :D
Welcome back, cooper76 and allio, to the DPAD-crunching! :)
Rudy Toody, are you crunching under your name? :Q

I think so, but I have to know so that the TAS-stats will be correct ... he is a member!!!

You caught us!;)

It's actually a small team of two: rabrittain and Rudy Toody.:D

We each have an FX-60 working hard. I'll have two more late next week. I'm replacing two motherboards.:(

Hi Petrusbroder!

:)Welcime, [TA]Memnoch, [TA]FLOPS Slingers and [TA]TurtleBlue to DPAD! Crunching is awsome!:D

Just glad I can help.

Will run dPad on the 3.06ghz Northwood after it finishes a F@H job (in about 2-3 days) and will also throw in that Thinkpad 500mhz fossil to help out as much as it can. Not worried about electrical cost since I have never received an electric bill since my wife and i have been at this current co-op since 1984 (it's included in the monthly maintenance bill - but not as a seperate item - included altogether!). Will probably put together another box after Intel does it's April 22, 2007 cpu price reductions and throw that into the mix as well.;)

Thanks TurtleBlue! Every CPU - no matter how small - crunches quite a few Mpts - which are sorely needed if we want to catch Free-DC! :D
