Bah. That's nothing. A few guys here at work could open gun shops with their collections. I know who I'll visit if riots break out again!

you do realize that the point is to be aware of your surroundings so that you have time to react to something like this or to prevent this from happening?

Good luck with that, not everybody is Bruce Lee.

If you don't know what I'm talking about how the hell do you know what you're talking about? Not everybody walks around the streets in their day to day lives with their hands on their guns shifting their eyes around looking for a potential mugger. Muggers aren't about to go after paranoid looking people in the first place, you're most likely to run into one who already has a gun pointed at you when you least expect it. I don't care if you want to own a gun, but most gun owners who talk about defending themselves from a mugger almost certainly don't know what they're talking about, and when the time comes to prove themselves (if it ever does) won't reach for their gun in time, if they even remember they have one.

you don't have to "walk around with your hand on your gun and shifting your eyes looking for a potential mugger" to be aware of your surroundings.

being aware of your surroundings means watching where you're going and noticing people or things that might seem odd.
fvcking anti-gun people just need to stay out of these threads

There's a sentence in my post you forgot to read, but I'm sure you're a big boy and can go and find it for yourself. I'm not anti-gun, I'm
anti-tough-guys-who-think-they'd-shoot-a-mugger-but-would-actually-just-piss-their-fvcking-pants.

Word. I would keep a gun in my room in case someone broke in. Walking around with one is stupid. Chances are, they will pull the gun/knife on YOU first. Then what are you going to do? Quickdraw and shoot him in the chest? Unless you walk around and pull a gun on anyone suspicious, a mugger will have the drop on you.

Also, if you are "Aware of your surroundings" you would avoid situations where you would need your gun in the first place.

i didnt want this to be anti carry thread or anti gun thread, etc.

all i want to her to be is safe and to handle a firearm if a situation arises. the last thing honestly is for her to actually use a firearm in any situation...i wouldn't wish that on anybody...but i'm gonna make sure she knows how to use it safely and responsibly.

I certainly agree with that, sorry for veering offtopic, and my comments weren't aimed at you.

OP, she is cute. What is your secrets? and what are you two ethnic backgrounds?

BTW, my brother has an Colt AR-15, pre ban with all the goodies <scope, stock, long magazines, etc>. He said he has several offers to buy for several thousands of dollars. I am not a gun person but it is beautiful, all black and all.

I will see if I can take a pic of his AR-15.
