I haven't gone this year but I go every few months. Its too damn expensive to go shooting often because bullets aren't cheap (unless you know of a place besides Turner's).

$2K? Holy! I guess I'll stick to buying the HK at around $800

mostly the acog was 1/2 the cost of the gun. Most AR's can be had for $800 for a basic setup.

^ Yep. A lot of it depends too on the brand of the AR - some are better than others.

Okay, so when some thug has a gun pointed at her she'll reach for her pistol and get shot. You handgun people need a freaking reality check.

Conversation with an urban geographer:
me: i don't understand how people think carrying a handgun in their purse will be useful for self defense
him: because the people who do are rich and don't go around bad areas
him: so they never get robbed in the first place
me: true
him: the same reason why gun control lowers crime
him: cuz everyone with guns is living in rural areas or suburbs
me: there are 2 things that can happen
me: some thug will have a gun pointed at you and you'll reach for your gun and get shot
me: or he'll grab the purse and take the gun along with your money
me: wait what does the rural and suburbs have to do with gunc ontrol lowering crime?
him: cuz that's how they calculate crime rates
him: by areas
him: and the percentage of people with guns
him: and places with more gun ownership also have less crime
me: doesn't that mean that gun control shouldn't have any effect on crime?
him: yeah
him: it doesn't have any effect
him: but the pro-gun studies only use correlations
him: which are not caused by guns at all

you do realize that the point is to be aware of your surroundings so that you have time to react to something like this or to prevent this from happening?
