not everyone is so unlucky.

The big ones often express social class anyway, so it's bad for job prospects.
Visible tattoo means giving up on jobs in the military, police, healthcare and several private jobs where you will never know if they didn't hire you because the boss doesn't like tattoos or for some other reason.
I might as well throw a hoe on my feet.

so wrong. there is a form to fill out for the military, and 99% of the time its approved

one of my family friends was a deputy cheif at a decent sized department, ran the swat team, and bomb squad, and had a large marine crest on his right forearm

I work with the local 911 dispatch center as an IT Consultant, and play on their softball team in the public safety league against cops and firemen.

its tat city man. especially the cops. go figure, most are ex military and got them while in the service

I have nothing against tastefully done tattoos, but I just can't think of any I'd want to get for myself.

Cant stand tats, especially on women. Even the little tiny ones on their ankle.

Tats are disqualifying some recruits from the marines but not so much the Army. I just rejoined earlier this year with double digit tats with no problems. Filled out a sheet, the doc didn't even really look.

They do check for gang tats, etc at basic. As far as future work, I'll either be in a professional environment where everything is covered or I'll be in a relaxed environment where nobody will care.

Same here. Looks like quite a few posters here either got their asses kicked or rejected sexually by people with tats and have way too strong a negative association with them, IMO.

I don't mind those type, butterflies, small flowers and such but for the love of god no flaming skulls or spider-webs of any type at all..

Don't know about you but when I was in my teens it wasn't socially acceptable for anyone who wasn't a) in the military or b) not a gang member or biker to have tattoos. Guess those social stigmas worked.

I didn't know anyone who had a tattoo when I was a teenager (the age when many people seem to start getting tats these days). Different generation I guess but I still think they are ridiculous, a waste of money, and something most people end up regretting later in life. And to see my niece fuck up her body with these hideous ill-conceived graphic displays of stupidity just annoys the hell out of me.

Now get off my lawn!!! :p

Tattoos are stupid, to me, and I'd never get one.

The thing is, I cannot imagine anything I think tattoo-worthy today worth looking at when I'm 70. Nursing homes are going to be some pretty weird looking places in the future.

I hate this arguement, nothing on your body is going to look good at 70, who gives a crap, it isn't like you are going to be out pulling 20 year old hotties only to get them home and turn them off with your faded tattoo.

For the record I don't have any but I keep threatening to get one done, just need to find a proper artist.

I love my full sleeves, work as a Photographer in major public events. Also work at a government job .... wouldn't have it any other way, except with maybe another tatt :)

On the way in to work today noticed some guy on a bike a couple lanes over, looked like he either some type of belly chain or an around the body tattoo.

Can't say either would be a good choice, but one would be really worse than the other.

it depends on the and where the tatt is. arms nobody gives a shit. covered by clothing nobody gives a shit, Neck, face, head, well good luck in finding a job other than working in a tatt shop or the prison laundry detail.

My boss has tattoos up and down both arms. I've never seen them though because he always wears long sleeve shirts to hide them from his bosses.

LOL at people completely covered in tats ever rejecting people sexually without tats...

Now, I can imagine just the opposite might indeed be true.

Girls with tattoos are usually a lot easier. When you get ones with lots of tattoos they usually have a tough pissy attitude or are lesbo. But you find out that the pissy ones are the most insecure and easiest once they break down. But then they are lots of drama.

And you couldn't be more wrong. First of all, it wasn't socially acceptable for anyone who wasn't a) in the military or b) not a gang member or biker to have tattoos when I was growing up. Guess those social stigmas worked.

My .02

Suck it.

Well I wasn't thinking of you when I wrote up that response, you strike me more as a smug person that never shuts up. Your attack of the tattoo and Facebook in general was spot on.

I have periods where I have downtime at work so I tend to jump on here and post a comment at various times throughout the day. I'm not smug, just opinionated. :p

But I see your point and I edited my post to make it less confrontational.

I'm generally not a fan of tattoos but I like the one on Canadian folk singer Laurence Hélie.

Admit it. You don't care about the tattoo, you like her because she's Canadian, she's attractive and because she can play music and sing (probably like an angel).
