seriously, I've got one tattoo, an Egyptian pictograph because I am really big on history and ancient civilizations, especially Egypt.

I have a friend that does tattoos. He's told me that with the inks they use these days they work better with stretching and aging.

Just remember.. rule of thumb isnt to tattoo band names or other peoples names (unless they are your kids or parents, siblings) onto your body.

It will be like anything else. If you get it on a body part that streches a lot, then the tattoo will stretch with it. If you choose an area that is not terribly elastic (like an ankle or a hand), then you should be fine.

Just don't put on lots of weight or lose lots of weight or the tattoo will look horrible.

When I say upper arm, I mean it in a way so it cannot be seen with regular clothes. I'm not decided between the arm and the upperback, just below the neck

Holy freaking crap. Be careful about the upper back area.

I have a tat between my shoulder blades and OMFG it hurt like a sonofabitch because the needle is dancing on your SPINE. Just my 2 cents. And get a tat of whatever the hell you want. It's your body. AC/DC is a great band and if that's what means a lot to you, do it.

However, I do have a problem with cornfed white kids getting kanji tats. I have kanji but at least it's my middle name ("ei" in Japanese).

no one will want to look at your tit when you're 80 anyway...

you can get it, but the lightning bolt is a common SS tattoo (nazi), I'd make sure it says AC/DC somewhere

i have a tattoo around my right bicep. it stretches as i gain or lose muscle.

the only thing i would suggest, which has been suggested earlier, is to try to avoid names or letters.

Ah... love how so many people are willing to judge others. Look if a tattoo, earring or hairstyle gets in the way of someone trying to get a job... then he wasn't cut out for the job anyway. I mean come on, if a guy comes in, has the sickest resume and is obviously smart and eager to learn from the interview, I wouldn't give a sh!t if the guy came in with a bar through his head and a tattoo covering his face. And if you can judge someone by what the person is wearing or presents himself... go ahead and stereotype. That's your freaking problem, not theirs.

Anyway, dude, get WHATEVER you want as long as you stated.. it represents some more on a deeper scale. A lot of my bros, they have our fraternitery letters tatted on their body, or brands and who am I to judge? For me personally, I value our motto more than just the letters, which is why I chose to get a brand of the motto in Chinese characters. Your body, do whatever you want man...

As for the tattoo aging question, I think as long as you take REALLY good care of it in the beginning, I think you are set. You probably have to get touch ups every so often (I'm talking years)...

It can stretch out a little but today's tats are much better than the old WWII sailors' tats. I would also be careful getting the AC/DC tat, but do what you want. I was thinking seriously about getting the Metallica 4-M ninja star on my upper arm/shoulder in black and red (although not the name Metallica or anything, just the star thing so that I know and other Metallica fans would recognize it) b/c it represents a certain time and a huge range of emotions in my life, but I haven't done it yet....that and the fact that after hearing St. Anger I'd be embarrassed with the tattoo ;)

True.. I should at least wait for their upcoming album to make up my mind.

I've thought about it and... on the bicep it's too old fashionned... below the neck it seems to be too painful... so maybe behind one of my shoulder blade?

You must have never been in a position of real (management slash hiriing) power...and thank goodness. If you think for a second that they tolerate this in the "real" world, you must be kidding. Sure there are some companies that are pretty laxed and do care only about qualifications, but there are others that have an image to uphold.

You're almost correct on that one. What you're thinking of is SS stylized to look like twin lightning bolts. If the lightning bolt itself was a common SS tattoo, I'd be taking a long hard look at anyone flashing a San Diego Chargers logo or a Grateful Dead logo. ;)

Kag: Do what makes you happy, but:

1. Make sure it's in a spot you can cover up with clothes (for work, etc.)

2. Make sure this is something you really want to do and not just an impulse.

I have a tattoo of an ankh on my right shoulder and have never regretted getting it. I would love to get additional tattoos (I've been thinking about getting the Greek Alpha and Omega symbols tattooed on my shoulder blades) but finances prevent that... :(

No kidding. Just because your company thinks something is okay, doesn't mean that other companies do. If you can sucessfully name a company that never has people outside of the company come inside for meetings/see how things are run, etc, I'll (e)mail you a (picture of) a dollar.

By they way, when you are 50, no one is going to care who AC/DC is/was. If you are trying to remember your youth, maybe you should rethink what you want to get, or just make a freakin' scrapbook or something.
